Incoming Call Timeout Settings

Incoming Call Timeout controls how long a phone rings before voicemail is triggered.

Recommended configuration ensures accurate call status reporting.

Recommended Timeout Range

  • 15–20 seconds is recommended.

Effects of Incorrect Timeout Values

  • Over 20 seconds:

    • Calls may route to carrier voicemail.

    • Call status may be marked as Completed instead of Voicemail.

  • Under 15 seconds:

    • Calls may disconnect too quickly.

    • Agents may not have enough time to answer.

Part 2: Customize Missed Call Behavior Using Workflows

Workflows allow advanced logic, delays, tagging, and conditional messaging.

IMPORTANT: If you use a workflow for missed call messaging, disable Missed Call Text Back in settings to avoid duplicate SMS messages.

Step 1: Open Workflows

  1. Go to Automations.

  2. Click Workflows.

  3. Select Create Workflow.

  4. Choose Select from Template.

Step 2: Select the Auto Missed Call Text Back Recipe

  1. Search for Auto Missed Call Text Back.

  2. Select the recipe.

Step 3: Customize and Publish the Workflow

  1. Review and customize triggers and actions.

  2. Optional actions include:

    • Wait steps (e.g., 20+ minutes).

    • Tag-based filtering to prevent repeat messages.

  3. Change status from Draft to Publish.

Important Behavior Notes

  • The built-in Missed Call Text Back sends an SMS for every missed call, even repeated calls from the same number.

  • Workflows are recommended if you want:

    • Rate limiting.

    • Conditional messaging.

    • Time-based delays.
