Updated over 3 months ago

Who This Is For / When to Use

Use this if recipients see only your phone number (or “Unknown Caller”) and you want your business name to appear on caller ID.

What CNAM Does

CNAM (Calling Name) displays a business name on supported US carrier caller ID systems.

Important limitations:

  • US only

  • Carrier-dependent

  • Not all recipients will see the name

  • Requires SHAKEN/STIR or A2P approval first

How CNAM Works with SHAKEN/STIR

  • SHAKEN/STIR verifies the call

  • CNAM displays the business name

  • CNAM does not replace Verified Caller ID

How to Register for CNAM

Step 1: Open CNAM in Trust Center

  1. Go to Settings > Phone Numbers > Trust Center.

  2. Select CNAM (Voice).

  3. Click Start Registration.

Step 2: Review CNAM Preview

You’ll see a preview showing:

  • Before CNAM: number only

  • After CNAM: business name displayed

Step 3: Enter Business Name

  1. Enter the exact business name (15 characters max).

  2. Acknowledge the carrier limitation notice.

  3. Click Confirm & Register.

Step 4: Submission Confirmation

After submission:

  • CNAM status is submitted

  • Display typically updates within 3–5 days
