Workflow Trigger: Facebook – Comment(s) on a Post

Use the Facebook – Comment(s) on a Post workflow trigger to automatically enroll contacts and respond when someone comments on a specific Facebook post.

Who This Is For / When to Use

Use this trigger if you want to:

  • Capture leads from Facebook post comments

  • Automatically reply to comments or send DMs

  • Filter comments by post, keyword, or match type

  • Use AI to generate automated replies

Prerequisites

  • A Facebook Page connected to your Kyrios account

  • Facebook & Instagram integration enabled

Connect a Facebook Account

  1. Go to Settings (bottom-left navigation).

  2. Open Integrations.

  3. Locate Facebook & Instagram.

  4. Click Connect and complete the authorization flow.

Step-by-Step: Create a Facebook Comment Workflow

Step 1: Create a New Workflow

  1. Go to Automation > Workflows.

  2. Click + Create Workflow.

  3. Select Start from Scratch.

Step 2: Add the Trigger

  1. Click Add Trigger.

  2. Select Facebook – Comment(s) on a Post.

  3. Keep or rename the trigger if needed.

Step 3: Configure Trigger Filters

Filters control which comments trigger the workflow.

Select Facebook Page

  • Use Page Is to select the connected Facebook Page.

Choose Post Type

You can target comments from Published posts or a Custom post.

Option A: Published Post

  1. Set Post Type is → Published Post.

  2. Select the post from the list.

  3. Use View on Facebook to verify the post.

Option B: Custom Post (URL or ID)

  1. Set Post Type is → Custom.

  2. Add the Post is filter.

  3. Paste the Facebook Post URL or Post ID.

  4. Use View on Facebook to confirm the post.

Filter Comment Content

Control which comments activate the workflow.

Available options:

  • Contains Phrase – triggers if the comment includes the keyword

  • Exact Match – triggers only if the comment exactly matches the text

Track First-Level Comments Only (Optional)

  • Enable Track First Level Comments Only to ignore replies on comments.

  • Disable it to include nested replies.

This option does not work for Facebook Groups.

Step 4: Save the Trigger

Click Save Trigger once all filters are configured.

Step 5: Respond to Comments Using Facebook Interactive Messenger

Add Messenger Action

  1. Click + Add Action.

  2. Select Facebook Interactive Messenger.

Choose Reply Type

You can select:

  • Comment Reply – replies publicly on the post

  • Reply to comment via DM – sends a private message

Customize Message Content

  • Write your reply message

  • Use merge fields like {{contact.first_name}}

  • Attach files if needed

Add Buttons (Optional)

  • Add up to three buttons for user interaction

  • Buttons can trigger next workflow steps

Step 6: Use AI to Reply to Facebook Comments Automatically

Add AI Action

  1. Add the GPT powered by OpenAI action.

  2. Write a prompt using the comment body variable.

Example prompt:

Generate a helpful reply based on this Facebook comment: {{fb_comment_on_post.fb.body}}

Send AI Response as Comment Reply

  • Use the AI output variable (example: {{chatgpt.3.response}}) in your comment reply action

  • Optionally enable Like Comments for Facebook posts

Finalize and Test

  1. Save the workflow.

  2. Use Test Workflow to validate trigger and responses.

  3. Publish once verified.

Common Issues and Fixes

Trigger not firing
Ensure the correct Facebook Page and Post are selected.

DM not delivered
DM replies require the user to have interacted with your Page within Facebook’s allowed window.

Comments not detected
Check keyword spelling and whether nested comments are excluded.
