Workflow Action: Instagram Interactive Messenger

Instagram Interactive Messenger lets you automatically send Instagram DMs or DM replies to comments directly from workflows to drive conversations, capture leads, and guide next actions.

Who This Is For

This feature is designed for:

  • Businesses that actively receive Instagram comments or DMs

  • Teams that want to automatically reply to comments via DM within platform rules

  • Marketers using Instagram to capture and qualify leads

  • Support or sales teams who want interactive, button-based conversations

This feature is not suitable if:

  • Your Instagram account is not connected to a Facebook Page

  • The contact has never interacted with your Instagram account (DM rules apply)

Prerequisites

Before using Instagram Interactive Messenger:

  1. Your Facebook and Instagram accounts must be connected

  2. Your workflow must include one of the following triggers:

    • Instagram – Comment(s) on a Post

    • Instagram – User Sends a DM

How to Add Instagram Interactive Messenger to a Workflow

Step 1: Open the Workflow Builder

  1. Go to Automation > Workflows

  2. Create a new workflow or edit an existing one

Step 2: Add a Supported Instagram Trigger

  1. Click Add New Trigger

  2. Select Instagram – Comment(s) on a Post or Instagram – User Sends a DM

  3. Configure required filters

Important: Always set Page is as the first filter to prevent dependent filters from being removed.

Step 3: Add the Instagram Interactive Messenger Action

  1. Click Add Action

  2. Select Instagram Interactive Messenger from the Communications category

Reply Type Options

Choose how the message is delivered:

  • Reply to DM – Responds to users who sent you a DM

  • Reply to comment via DM – Sends a DM when a user comments on your post

Note: Reply-to-comment DMs must be sent within Instagram’s allowed window or delivery may fail.

Compose Your Message

You can:

  • Write a custom message

  • Insert contact variables (e.g. {{contact.first_name}})

  • Attach files

  • Use templates (if available)

Buttons

Buttons allow users to interact with your message. You can add up to 3 buttons.

Button types:

  1. Open Website – Redirects the user to a URL

  2. Call Number – Initiates a phone call (final action)

  3. Perform Actions – Continues the workflow based on user selection

Limitations:

  • No actions can follow a Call Number button

  • Buttons and Quick Replies cannot be used together

Quick Replies

Quick Replies provide one-tap responses users can select.

  • Add up to 13 quick replies

  • Maximum 20 characters per reply

  • Displayed only on the most recent message

Rules:

  • Quick Replies cannot be used if attachments are added

  • Once selected, replies cannot be changed

Default Wait Time

Set how long Kyrios waits for a user response before moving to the default branch.

  • Default: 10 seconds

  • Editable per action

If no button or reply is selected, the contact moves to the Default Timeout branch.

Publish the Workflow

  1. Review your trigger and message setup

  2. Click Publish to activate the workflow

Common Issues and Fixes

Message not delivered

  • Ensure the contact interacted with your Instagram account

  • Confirm reply-to-comment messages are sent within allowed time windows

Buttons not appearing

  • Remove attachments

  • Ensure Quick Replies are not enabled

Filters disappearing

  • Always add Page is as the first trigger filter
