Automatic abandoned checkout emails help recover missed store sales by emailing customers who started checkout but did not complete their purchase.

What Automatic Abandoned Checkout Emails Do

An automatic abandoned checkout email is sent when a customer:

  1. Adds items to their cart.

  2. Starts checkout.

  3. Enters an email address.

  4. Leaves without completing the purchase.

Kyrios sends a follow-up email that links the customer back to the abandoned checkout. The email can include the customer’s abandoned cart link and the products left in the cart.


What the Abandoned Cart Link Does

The abandoned cart link lets the customer return to the checkout session tied to that abandoned cart. The link works across devices, browsers, and sessions. Each abandoned cart link represents one abandoned checkout session. Customers cannot add new items from the abandoned cart link. If products are deleted or unavailable, the checkout may show a Continue Shopping option instead.


How to Open Abandoned Checkout Settings

Go to Payments from the left navigation menu.

Click Settings from the top Payments menu.

In the Settings page, select Notifications from the left-side settings menu.


How to Enable Abandoned Cart Emails

Turn on Enable Abandoned Cart emails.

When this setting is enabled, Kyrios can send an abandoned checkout email after the customer leaves checkout without completing payment.


How to Select the Abandoned Checkout Email Template

Use the Email Template dropdown to choose the template Kyrios should send. Click Preview to review the selected template before saving.

Use a custom template if you want the abandoned checkout email to match your brand and include dynamic cart content.


How to Set the Email Subject

Enter the subject line in the Subject field.

Use a clear subject line that reminds the customer to complete their purchase.

How to Set the Email Delay

Use Send after to choose how long Kyrios should wait before sending the abandoned checkout email.

Set the delay based on how quickly you want to follow up after checkout is abandoned.


How to Create or Edit an Email Template

Go to Marketing → Emails.

Open the Templates tab.

Click + New to create a new template, or select an existing template to edit it.

Use the template list to open an existing template for editing.


How to Add an Abandoned Checkout Link to the Email

Inside the email editor, click the custom value icon in the toolbar.

Select Ecommerce from the custom value menu.

Choose Checkout page URL to link the customer back to the abandoned checkout. Choose Product list page to link the customer to the store product list.


How to Show Cart Items in the Email

Use the Shopping Cart element when you want the email to display abandoned cart items.

The Shopping Cart element can show product details such as item names, prices, quantities, and images when cart data is available. Cart data is usually available when the customer reaches checkout and provides an email address.


Common Issues and Fixes

The abandoned checkout email did not send

The customer must enter an email address during checkout before Kyrios can send an abandoned checkout email.

The abandoned cart link does not show all store products

The abandoned cart link only opens the items from that abandoned checkout session. It is not a full store browsing link.

The customer cannot add more items from the abandoned cart link

The abandoned cart checkout is view-only for the abandoned cart contents.

Use the Product list page link if you want to send customers back to the full store catalog.

The abandoned checkout email is off

Go to Payments → Settings → Notifications and turn on Enable Abandoned Cart emails.

Can I disable abandoned checkout emails?

Yes. Go to Payments → Settings → Notifications and turn off Enable Abandoned Cart emails.

Does this work for Funnel or Website order forms?

No. Automatic abandoned checkout emails apply to Store checkouts managed under Payments.

What happens if the customer does not provide an email address?

Kyrios cannot send the abandoned checkout email because no recipient email was captured.

Can I adjust when the email is sent?

Yes. Use the Send after setting in Payments → Settings → Notifications.

Can I send multiple automatic abandoned cart reminders?

Kyrios supports the abandoned checkout notification available in the Payments notification settings.

Can I use SMS instead of email?

The built-in abandoned checkout notification is email-based.

Is the abandoned cart link shareable?

Yes. The abandoned cart link can work across devices, browsers, and sessions.

Can customers add new items from the abandoned cart link?
