How Taxes Work in Point-of-Sale

Taxes in POS are applied at the product level.

  • Taxes must be created in the web app first

  • One or more taxes can be linked to a product

  • Linked taxes apply automatically whenever the product is added to the cart

Link Taxes to a Product (Mobile App)

Step 1: Open the Mobile App

  • Log in to the Kyrios mobile app

  • Select the account you want to use

Step 2: Go to Products

  • Tap the hamburger menu (top-left)

  • Select Products

Step 3: Create or Edit a Product

  • Open an existing product or create a new one

  • Confirm taxes already exist in the web app

Step 4: Select Taxes

  • In the product editor, open the Add Tax dropdown

  • Select one or more taxes to apply

Step 5: Save the Product

  • Save your changes

  • The selected taxes are now permanently linked to this product

Result:
Whenever this product is added to a POS cart, taxes calculate automatically.

Apply Discounts During POS Checkout

Discounts are applied per transaction, not per product.

Step 1: Add Products to the Cart

  • Add items from the Product Catalog

Step 2: Open Discount Controls

  • On the checkout screen, tap Discount

Step 3: Apply a Percentage Discount

  • Use the slider to select the discount percentage

  • The discount applies to the full transaction total

Step 4: Review Final Amount

  • Confirm:

    • Subtotal

    • Discount amount

    • Taxes

    • Final charge

Complete the Sale

  • Review all checkout details

  • Tap Charge to process the payment

Taxes and discounts are finalized at this step.

Common Issues and Fixes

Taxes Are Not Appearing

Cause: Taxes were not linked to the product.
​Fix: Edit the product and assign the correct taxes.

Discount Option Is Missing

Cause: No items added to cart.
​Fix: Add at least one product before applying a discount.

Incorrect Tax Amount

Cause: Tax rate was configured incorrectly in the web app.
​Fix: Update the tax rate in Payments > Settings in the web app.

FAQ

How do I create taxes in the web app?

Go to Payments > Settings, then create and manage taxes.
These taxes become available in the mobile product editor.

Can I apply multiple taxes to a single product?

Yes.
You can link multiple taxes to a product, and all selected taxes apply at checkout.

Can discounts be applied per item instead of per transaction?

No.
POS discounts apply to the entire transaction total, not individual items.

Are location-based taxes supported?

Not currently.
Location-based tax selection is planned for a future update.
