Where Email Subject Settings Are Located

Email subject lines are managed inside Documents & Contracts settings.

  • Settings apply globally to:

    • Customer notifications

    • Team notifications

  • Changes affect future emails only

Open Documents & Contracts Settings

Step 1: Go to Documents & Contracts

  • Navigate to Documents & Contracts

  • Click Settings in the top-right corner

What Customer Notifications Control

Customer notifications are emails sent to recipients when:

  • A document is received

  • A document requires action

  • A document is completed

How to Edit Customer Subject Lines

  1. Open Settings

  2. Select Customer Notifications

  3. Edit the Email Subject field

You can use dynamic placeholders such as:

  • {{location.name}}

  • {{document.name}}

Result:
All customer-facing document emails use the updated subject line.

What Team Notifications Control

Team notifications are emails sent to internal users when:

  • A document is signed

  • A document is viewed

How to Edit Team Subject Lines

  1. Open Settings

  2. Select Team Notifications

  3. Edit the Email Subject fields for each notification type

Result:
Internal users receive clearer, status-specific email notifications.

Customize Subject Lines Per Document (Optional)

Subject lines can also be adjusted inside individual documents.

  • Open a document or template

  • Click the Settings icon

  • Edit the Email Subject field

This overrides the global setting for that document only.

Add Email Attachments to Documents

You can attach files that are sent as real email attachments.

Supported Behavior

  • Attachments are included when documents are sent:

    • Manually

    • Through workflows

  • Files appear directly in the recipient’s inbox

Common Issues and Fixes

Subject Line Did Not Change

Cause: Settings were updated after the document was sent.
Fix: Subject changes apply only to future emails.

Placeholders Are Not Rendering

Cause: Placeholder text was modified incorrectly.
Fix: Use supported variables exactly as shown.

Attachments Are Missing

Cause: Files were not added before sending.
Fix: Attach files in document settings prior to sending.
