Use this when you want consistent document behavior across your account, including who gets notified, how invoices are generated, how signers are redirected, and how long documents remain valid.
Accessing Global Document Settings
Global settings are managed from the Documents & Contracts area.
Steps
Go to Payments in the left navigation.
Open Documents & Contracts.
Click Settings next to the New button.
Customer Notifications
Customer Notifications control what recipients receive before and after signing.
Email Sender Configuration
Set a default From Name and From Email.
These details are used for all customer-facing document emails.
CC Recipients
Enable CC recipients globally.
CC recipients receive:
The document at the same time as the primary signer.
A signed copy after all signers complete the document.
Document Received Notification
Sent when the document is delivered to the recipient.
Supports email and optional SMS notifications.
Template and subject can be customized.
Document Signed Notification
Sent after the document is successfully signed.
Supports email and optional SMS notifications.
Document Expiry Warning Email
Sent 1 day before a document expires.
Uses a configurable email template.
Team Notifications
Team Notifications control internal alerts for document activity.
Override Sender Details
Set a custom From Name and From Email for team notifications.
Useful for internal branding and clarity.
Document Signed Notification (Team)
Notifies the document owner when a document is signed.
Uses a configurable email template and subject.
Document Viewed Notification
Sends an email when a recipient views the document for the first time.
Helps teams follow up at the right moment.
Product Invoicing Settings
Product Invoicing settings control how payments and invoices behave after signing.
Direct Payment After Signing
Redirects the signer to payment immediately after signing.
Bypasses waiting for an invoice email.
Automatic Invoice Sending
When enabled:
An invoice is automatically sent after document completion.
When disabled:
An invoice is created but saved as Draft.
Document Settings (Global)
Document Settings apply account-wide unless overridden per document or template.
Redirect to a Custom URL
Redirect signers to a custom URL after signing.
Choose to open the URL in:
Existing tab
New tab
Applies to all new documents unless overridden.
Expiration Settings
Automatically expire documents after a set number of days.
Applies to all new documents and templates.
Optional email reminder sent 1 day before expiration.
Expiration Behavior
Once expired:
The document is marked as expired.
Recipients can no longer sign or fill it.

Individual documents and templates can override global behavior.

Common Issues and Fixes
Customers are not redirected after signing
Confirm the global redirect toggle is enabled.
Check whether the document or template overrides the global URL.
Invoices are not being sent automatically
Verify that Automatic Invoice Sending is enabled.
Confirm products are attached to the document.
Team is not receiving notifications
Ensure Team Notifications are enabled.
Check that Override Sender Details is not misconfigured.
FAQ
How do I set the email sender details for notifications?
Go to Customer Notifications or Team Notifications and enter the From Name and From Email. These apply globally unless overridden per document.
Can I add CC recipients for specific documents?
Yes. You can set CC recipients globally or configure them individually on each document.
How does direct payment work?
When enabled, signers are redirected to payment immediately after signing instead of waiting for an invoice email.
