Editing Pending and Processing Bulk Actions

This article explains how to identify, edit, and manage Bulk Actions that are queued or processing, including how batch (drip) settings can be adjusted safely after scheduling.

Updated over 2 months ago

Who This Is For / When to Use

  • Users running bulk SMS, email, or other bulk operations

  • Teams using Send in Drip Mode for scheduled or batched delivery

  • Admins who need to adjust batch quantities after a Bulk Action is created

What Are Bulk Actions

Bulk Actions allow you to perform one-time actions on selected or all contacts, including:

  • Sending bulk SMS or emails

  • Adding contacts to workflows or campaigns

  • Sending messages in drip (batched) mode

Bulk Actions are managed from a centralized Bulk Actions tracking screen.

Understanding Bulk Action Statuses

Each Bulk Action shows a Status that determines what can be edited.

Queued

  • The action is scheduled for the future.

  • No batches have started yet.

Processing

  • The action is actively running.

  • Some batches have already been sent.

Step 1: Open the Bulk Actions Page

  1. Go to Contacts.

  2. Click Bulk Actions at the top.

  3. Review the Status column for the action you want to manage.

This page shows:

  • Action label

  • Operation type (SMS, Email, Delete, etc.)

  • Status

  • Created and completed timestamps

  • Action menu (three dots)

Step 2: Edit a Bulk Action

  1. Locate the Bulk Action you want to update.

  2. Click the three-dot menu in the Actions column.

  3. Select Edit.

What You Can Edit Based on Status

Editing a Queued Bulk Action

If the action is Queued:

  • You can edit scheduling details before it starts.

  • Changes are applied as long as the first batch has not begun.

Editing a Processing Bulk Action

If the action is Processing:

  • You can edit batch quantity only.

  • Timing, message content, and target audience cannot be changed.

This allows you to speed up or slow down delivery without stopping the action.

Editing Batch (Drip) Settings

When editing a Bulk Action in drip mode, you can update:

  • Batch quantity (number of contacts per batch)

  • Repeat interval (e.g., every X days)

  • Allowed send days

  • Processing time window (optional)

Click Save Changes to apply updates.

Where Drip Mode Is Set

Drip mode is enabled when creating a Bulk Action, such as Bulk SMS.

  1. Create a Bulk Action.

  2. Select Send in Drip Mode.

  3. Configure batch size and start time.

  4. Send or schedule the action.

Common Issues and Fixes

  • Fix: Completed Bulk Actions cannot be edited.

Changes Not Taking Effect

  • Cause: Batch already processed.

  • Fix: Updates apply only to future batches.

Cannot Change Message Content

  • Cause: Action is already processing.

  • Fix: Only batch quantity is editable once processing begins.
