What is the Email Events Workflow Trigger?

The Email Events trigger fires when a contact performs a specific action related to an email sent from Kyrios Systems. These actions include opening an email, clicking a link, unsubscribing, marking an email as spam, or when an email bounces.

This trigger only applies to emails that are sent within workflows.

How to Set Up the Email Events Trigger

Step 1: Add the Trigger

  1. Navigate to Automation β†’ Workflows.

  2. Create a new workflow or open an existing one.

  3. In the workflow builder, click Add New Trigger.

Step 2: Select Email Events

  1. In the trigger selection panel, search for Email.

  2. Scroll to the Events section.

  3. Select Email Events.

Step 3: Configure the Trigger

  1. Confirm Email Events is selected under Choose a Workflow Trigger.

  2. (Optional) Rename the trigger using the Workflow Trigger Name field for clarity.

  3. Click Add filters.

Step 4: Select the Email Event Type

  1. Under Standard Fields, choose Event.

  2. Select the email event that should trigger the workflow:

  • Bounced (Mailgun only): Email delivery failed

  • Clicked: Contact clicked a link in the email

  • Complained (SPAM): Contact marked the email as spam

  • Opened: Contact opened the email

  • Unsubscribed: Contact unsubscribed via the email

Step 5: (Optional) Filter by Workflow Email

To trigger the automation only for a specific email:

  1. Click Add filters again.

  2. Under Standard Fields, select In workflow.

  3. Expand the dropdown and choose the workflow that contains the email.

Important: This filter only works for emails that are sent from workflows.

Step 6: Save the Trigger

  1. Click Save Trigger in the bottom-right corner.

  2. Save the workflow.

  3. Toggle Publish when ready.

  4. Use Test Workflow to confirm correct behavior.

Example Use Case

Scenario: Email Open Notification

Goal: Notify your team when a prospect opens a scheduling email.

Trigger Setup:

  • Trigger: Email Events

  • Event: Opened

  • In Workflow: Meet with Billy Calendar

Outcome: The workflow runs as soon as the email is opened, allowing you to notify a user, assign a task, or trigger a follow-up.
