How to Ban Members and Report Content in Communities

Community Admins and Owners can ban members and review reported posts or comments to keep Communities safe, relevant, and compliant.

Who This Is For / When to Use

Use these features if you are a Community Admin or Owner and need to moderate member behavior or take action on inappropriate posts or comments.

Regular members can report content but cannot ban users or review reports.

What Moderation Actions Are Available

Ban Members

Admins and Owners can ban members from a Community.

When a member is banned:

  • They are immediately removed from the Community.

  • They cannot rejoin the Community.

  • All member permissions are revoked.

Report Content

Any member can report a post or comment.
Admins and Owners can review reported content and decide whether to keep or remove it.

Admins are notified when content is reported.

How to Ban a Member (Web)

  1. Open the Community.

  2. Go to the Members tab.

  3. Find the member you want to ban.

  4. Click the More options (⋮) icon next to the member.

  5. Select Ban from group.

Result:
The member is removed immediately and blocked from rejoining the Community.

How to Ban a Member (Mobile)

  1. Open the Community homepage.

  2. Tap Manage (visible only to Admins and Owners).

  3. Tap Members.

  4. Find the member you want to ban.

  5. Tap the More options (⋮) icon.

  6. Select Ban from group.

Result:
The member is removed and permanently banned from the Community.

How to Report a Post or Comment

Any Community member can report content.

  1. Locate the post or comment.

  2. Click or tap the More options (⋮) icon.

  3. Select Report.

Result:
The content is added to the Admin review queue, and Admins are notified.

How to Review Reported Content (Web)

  1. Open the Community homepage.

  2. Click Settings.

  3. Select the Reported Content tab.

You will see a list of reported posts and comments with two actions:

  • Keep – leaves the content visible.

  • Remove – deletes the post or comment.

How to Review Reported Content (Mobile)

  1. Open the Community homepage.

  2. Tap Manage.

  3. Tap To Review.

You will see all reported content with the following options:

  • Keep

  • Remove

Notifications for Reported Content

When content is reported, Community Admins receive:

  • Email notifications

  • In-app notifications

  • Push notifications (if enabled)

This ensures reported content is reviewed promptly.

Common Issues and Fixes

I don’t see the Ban option

  • Only Admins and Owners can ban members.

  • Regular members do not have moderation controls.

I can’t see reported content

  • Ensure you are an Admin or Owner.

  • Reported content only appears if something has been reported.

Reporting doesn’t remove content automatically

  • Reports do not auto-delete content.

  • An Admin must manually choose Remove.

Important Notes

  • Banning a member cannot be undone automatically.

  • Removed content is permanently deleted.

  • Reporting is anonymous to other members.
