Who This Is For / When to Use
Use this feature if you want to screen or qualify members before granting access to a Community Group.
What Member Approval Questions Do
Ask up to 3 required questions when someone requests to join a group.
Collect responses before approving or rejecting a request.
Help admins make informed membership decisions.
Step 1: Access Membership Questions Settings
Open the Community Group settings.
Select Membership Questions from the left-hand menu.
Step 2: Enable Member Approval Questions
Toggle Enable Membership Questions to ON.
Once enabled, all new membership requests must answer the configured questions.
If this toggle is off, no questions will be shown to applicants.
Step 3: Add a Membership Question
Click Add Question.
Enter the question text (maximum 150 characters).
Select a Question Type:
Textbox – Free-form written response
Single Select – One option can be selected
Multiple Select – Multiple options can be selected
Add answer options if using Single or Multiple Select.
Click Save.
Rules:
A maximum of 3 questions can be added.
Each option must be unique.
Step 4: Edit or Delete Existing Questions
Click the pencil icon to edit a question.
Click the trash icon to delete a question.
Changes apply only to future membership requests.
Step 5: View Membership Answers
Open the People tab for the Community Group.
Apply the Requested filter to view pending members.
Click the three-dot menu next to a member.
Select Membership Answers.
Step 6: Approve or Reject a Membership Request
Review the member’s answers.
Choose Approve or Decline based on the responses.
Approved members gain access immediately.
Declined members confirm removal of the request.
Common Issues and Fixes
Members are not seeing questions
Ensure Enable Membership Questions is turned ON.
I can’t add more questions
Only 3 membership questions are allowed per group.
I don’t see membership answers
Only Admins and Owners can view and manage membership answers.
Existing members were not asked questions
Membership questions apply only to new membership requests.
