Gift Cards

Gift Cards let you create, sell, send, redeem, and track branded gift cards from the Payments section in Kyrios.

What Gift Cards Do

Gift Cards let your business create branded gift card products with denominations, artwork, expiry settings, terms, categories, and inventory. Gift cards can be:

  • Sold through a dedicated checkout link.

  • Embedded on an external website.

  • Shared through a QR code.

  • Added to supported Kyrios checkouts.

  • Sent directly to contacts without payment.

Every issued gift card is tracked in Payments → Gift Cards.

Prerequisites

Before using Gift Cards, confirm that:

  • Your account has access to Payments → Gift Cards.

  • At least one gift card product exists.

  • Supported checkouts are active for redemption.

  • Optional artwork, terms, and redemption instructions are ready.

Supported redemption checkouts include Forms, Funnels, Payment Links, Invoices, Store, Calendars, and Services V2 during appointment booking. Gift cards are not currently supported on Memberships, Donation Forms, Rentals, or Services V1.

Navigate to Gift Cards

To open Gift Cards:

  1. Go to the left menu.

  2. Click Payments.

  3. Click Gift Cards in the top Payments navigation.

The Gift Cards page shows gift card products, filters, dashboard metrics, orders, and available actions.

Create a Gift Card Product

To create a gift card product:

  1. Go to Payments → Gift Cards.

  2. Click Create Gift Card.

  3. Complete the four-step gift card setup flow.

  4. Review the final preview.

  5. Click Create Gift Card.

First-time users may only see the Create Gift Card option until the first gift card product is created.

Step 1: Enter Basic Information

The Basic Information step defines the main gift card details.

Complete the required fields:

  • Gift Card Name

  • Gift Card Description

  • Expiry Date, if needed

  • Redemption URL option

  • Terms and Conditions

The expiry date applies to all gift card orders created from this product.

Use the redemption URL only when recipients need a link for redemption instructions or more information.

Step 2: Customize the Gift Card

The Customize Card step controls how the gift card looks. You can customize the card by selecting a template, uploading artwork, or creating a gradient.

To upload custom artwork, use the Upload a Template option.

Use high-quality artwork that clearly supports your brand and remains readable on the gift card preview.

Step 3: Set Values, Tax, and Category

The Set Values, Tax, and Category step defines:

  • Gift card denominations

  • Custom amount options

  • Inventory quantity

  • Out-of-stock selling behavior

  • Tax category

  • Gift card category

Inventory applies per denomination. For example, if quantity is 100 and the gift card has two denominations, each denomination has 100 available units.

Step 4: Review and Create the Gift Card

The Review Card step shows the final card preview and saved settings.

Review:

  • Gift card name

  • Description

  • Expiry date

  • Linked URL

  • Terms and conditions

  • Values

  • Available quantity

  • Tax code

  • Category

Click Create Gift Card when everything is correct.

After creation, the gift card appears on the Gift Cards page.

Edit, Delete, Deactivate, and Activate Gift Cards

Each gift card product has action buttons on its card. Use Edit to update gift card settings.

Use Delete to archive a gift card product you no longer use.

Use Deactivate to stop selling or sending a gift card product.

When a gift card is deactivated:

  • Sell and Send actions are disabled.

  • The dedicated checkout link stops working.

  • A Store product created from the gift card stops working.

  • Gift cards already added to other checkouts may continue selling unless manually removed.

Use Activate to re-enable sales and sending for a deactivated gift card.

Sell Gift Cards

Gift cards can be sold through:

  • Dedicated checkout links

  • Embedded checkout code

  • QR codes

  • Supported existing Kyrios checkouts

To sell through the dedicated checkout:

  1. Go to Payments → Gift Cards.

  2. Find the gift card product.

  3. Click Sell.

The Sell Gift Card page shows the Live Mode Checkout Link and embed code. Copy the Live Mode Checkout Link to share a hosted checkout with customers.

Copy the embed code to place the gift card checkout on an external webpage.

Dedicated Checkout Customer Experience

The dedicated checkout lets buyers choose a gift card value, enter gift details, pay, and receive confirmation. The buyer first selects a gift card denomination.

The buyer then selects whether the gift card is for Someone Else or Myself. If the buyer selects Someone Else, the checkout collects sender and recipient details.

If the buyer selects Myself, the checkout collects only the buyer’s name and email.

The buyer selects a delivery date and may add an optional message.

After payment, the confirmation screen shows the purchased gift card and a download option.

Live mode gift cards are redeemable on live checkouts. Test mode gift cards are redeemable on test checkouts.

Send Gift Cards Without Payment

Sending a gift card creates prepaid credit without collecting payment. Use this for:

  • Loyalty rewards

  • Promotions

  • Refunds

  • Service recovery

  • VIP perks

  • Internal testing

To send a gift card:

  1. Go to Payments → Gift Cards.

  2. Find the gift card product.

  3. Click Send.

The Send flow works in Live Mode.

Send Step 1: Select a Contact

Choose an existing contact or add a new contact. The selected contact receives the gift card based on the delivery method chosen later in the flow.

Send Step 2: Add a Message

Enter a message for the recipient. You can write your own message, choose a suggested message, or use Write Using AI.

Send Step 3: Select Value and Delivery Method

Choose the gift card value and delivery method.

Available delivery methods may include:

  • Email

  • SMS

  • QR via Email

  • PDF via Email

Only delivery methods supported by the contact’s available information are enabled.

Send Step 4: Review and Send

Review the contact, message, delivery details, gift card value, expiry date, and preview. Click Send Gift Card to issue the gift card.

A sent gift card appears in Gift Card Orders but does not appear in the general Payments → Orders page because no payment was collected.

PDF Gift Card Delivery

When PDF via Email is selected, the recipient receives a downloadable PDF gift card.

The PDF includes the gift card design, value, gift card code, recipient details, and terms link.

Track Gift Card Orders

All sold and sent gift cards are tracked in Payments → Gift Cards → Orders.

Gift Card Orders show issued cards, statuses, balances, contacts, and filters.

Use Gift Card Orders as the central place to track every gift card issued from the account. The general Payments → Orders page only shows paid orders.

Gift Card Dashboard Metrics

The Gift Cards dashboard shows performance metrics for the selected date range.

Metrics may include:

  • Total Gift Cards Issued

  • Total Value of Gift Cards Issued

  • Average Order Value

  • Number of Customers

  • Top Denomination

The dashboard also includes sales charting and order/product tabs.

Gift Card Order Details

Open a gift card order to view its details.

The order details page may show:

  • Order number

  • Sender or purchaser

  • Recipient

  • Gift card code

  • Delivery method

  • Delivery schedule

  • Gift card product

  • Quantity

  • Price

  • Total

Use Show Gift Card Code only when the full code needs to be viewed or copied.

Redeem Gift Cards at Checkout

Customers redeem gift cards at supported Kyrios checkouts by entering the gift card code in the Gift Card field. After the code is applied, the checkout shows:

  • Amount used from the gift card

  • Remaining gift card balance

  • Amount left to pay, when applicable

Some checkouts show a compact gift card entry field before the code is applied.

On supported order forms, the customer can apply a gift card code before completing the order.

If the gift card does not cover the full order total, the customer must pay the remaining balance using an available payment method.

Redemption Rules

If the gift card balance is greater than or equal to the one-time order total, no additional payment is required. If the gift card balance is less than the order total, the checkout collects payment for the remaining amount. If the order includes subscriptions or recurring products, additional payment rules may depend on the payment provider. Transaction details show gift card usage as a separate gift card amount.

Transaction details may also show the gift card amount used and the related gift card order reference.

Payment Provider Support

Gift card redemption is fully supported with:

  • Stripe

  • NMI

  • Authorize

  • Square

Gift card redemption has limited support with:

  • PayPal

  • Adyen

  • Custom payment providers

For limited-support providers, the gift card can be redeemed only when the gift card balance fully covers the order or invoice total, and the order or invoice does not include recurring or subscription products.

Common Issues and Fixes

Gift Card redemption does not appear at checkout

Gift card redemption appears after at least one gift card order exists in the account.

There is currently no setting to turn gift card redemption off.

A sent gift card is missing from Payments → Orders

Sent gift cards do not appear in the general Payments → Orders page because no payment was collected. Use Payments → Gift Cards → Orders to view sent gift cards.

A deactivated gift card is still being sold on another checkout

Deactivate stops the dedicated checkout link and disables Sell and Send. If the gift card was manually added to another checkout, remove it from that checkout.

A payment provider does not allow partial gift card redemption

PayPal, Adyen, and custom payment providers have limited support. Use Stripe, NMI, Authorize, or Square for full gift card redemption support.
