Who This Is For / When to Use

This article is for account owners who send high volumes of email and want full control over sender reputation and deliverability.

Use a Dedicated IP if:

  • You send large volumes of email consistently.

  • You want isolation from other senders’ reputation.

  • You need maximum control over SPF, DKIM, DMARC, and SSL alignment.

What Is a Dedicated IP?

A Dedicated IP is an email-sending IP address used only by your account.

Unlike shared IPs, no other sender can affect your reputation. Email providers evaluate your sending behavior alone when deciding inbox placement.

When You Should Use a Dedicated IP

A Dedicated IP is recommended when either of the following applies:

  • Your account has more than 100,000 total contacts, or

  • You have sent more than 200,000 emails in the last 30 days

Dedicated IPs are most effective when used with consistent, ongoing volume, not sporadic email bursts.

Benefits of a Dedicated IP

Enhanced Deliverability

  • Faster delivery and higher inbox placement.

  • Preferred by major mailbox providers like Gmail and Yahoo.

Full Reputation Control

  • Your sending behavior alone determines IP reputation.

  • No impact from other senders.

Easier Troubleshooting

  • IP-related issues are isolated to your account.

  • Faster diagnosis and resolution.

Improved Security

  • Stronger protection against spoofing and domain abuse.

  • Better alignment with SPF, DKIM, DMARC, and SSL.

Dedicated IP Sending Best Practices

  • Gradually warm up your IP by increasing volume every 24 hours.

  • Avoid sudden spikes in sending volume.

  • Send at least 50,000 emails per week to maintain reputation.

  • Use 1 Dedicated IP per 1 million emails per month.

  • Do not use Dedicated IPs for irregular or infrequent high-volume sends.

If your sending pattern is inconsistent, a shared IP may perform better.

How to Set Up a Dedicated IP

Step 1: Open Email Services

  1. Go to Settings in your account.

  2. Select Email Services.

  3. Click SMTP Service.

Step 2: Open Dedicated Domain and IP

  1. In the SMTP Service screen, click Dedicated Domain and IP.

Step 3: Buy a Dedicated IP

  1. Click Buy IP in the top-right corner.

  2. Complete the purchase.

Step 4: Assign the IP to a Domain

  1. Locate your sending domain.

  2. Click the three-dot menu next to the domain.

  3. Select Assign IP.

  4. Choose the Dedicated IP you purchased.

Once assigned, emails sent from that domain will use the selected IP.

IP and Domain Assignment Rules

  • You can assign multiple IPs to one domain.

  • You can assign one IP to multiple domains.

  • If a domain has multiple IPs, emails are sent using round-robin distribution.

  • This balances load across IPs automatically.

Common Issues and Fixes

Emails Still Landing in Spam

  • Ensure IP warm-up was gradual.

  • Verify SPF, DKIM, and DMARC are correctly configured.

  • Review complaint and bounce rates.

SSL Status Shows as Unknown

  • Confirm the domain is verified.

  • Allow time for SSL issuance after verification.

  • Re-check DNS records.

Domain Marked Inactive

  • Verify the domain immediately to prevent auto-deletion.

  • Ensure required DNS records are published correctly.

FAQ

When is it recommended to get a Dedicated IP?

A Dedicated IP is recommended for accounts with over 100,000 contacts or those sending more than 200,000 emails in the last 30 days.

Does a Dedicated IP guarantee inbox placement?

No. A Dedicated IP provides a clean reputation, but poor content, high spam complaints, or bad sending practices can still cause spam placement.

Do I still need SPF, DKIM, and DMARC with a Dedicated IP?

Yes. The IP controls the sending path, but SPF, DKIM, and DMARC establish identity and trust. Both are required for deliverability.

Can I assign multiple IPs to one domain?

Yes. Emails will be sent through all assigned IPs using round-robin distribution.

Is a Dedicated IP good for occasional large sends?

No. Dedicated IPs require consistent volume. Irregular high-volume sends can damage reputation quickly.

What should I do if deliverability drops?

Review sending volume consistency, monitor spam complaints, and confirm all authentication records (SPF, DKIM, DMARC, SSL) are correctly configured.
