How Social Media Account Tokens Work
Each social media account connected to the Social Planner uses an authorization token to stay connected.
Important facts:
Tokens expire automatically
Expiry timing varies by platform
Facebook: ~90 days
LinkedIn: ~60 days
Tokens may expire early if:
The social account password is changed
Permissions are revoked on the social platform
When a token expires, the account disconnects and scheduled posts cannot publish.
Social Planner Notification Types
The Social Planner can send email notifications for the following events:
Account Pre-Expiry
Reminder before a social account token expiresAccount Expired
Alert when a token has already expiredRequest for Post Approval
Notification sent to approvers for scheduled postsPost Approved
Notification sent to the post creatorPost Rejected
Notification sent to the post creator with rejection detailsPost Failed

Each notification type can be enabled, customized, and assigned to specific users.
Step 1: Open Social Planner Settings
Navigate to Social Planner
Click the gear icon in the top-right corner
This opens Social Planner Settings
Step 2: Go to the Notifications Tab
Inside Social Planner Settings, select Notifications
Review the list of available notification types
Locate Account Pre-Expiry and Account Expired
Step 3: Edit Account Expiry Notifications
Find the notification you want to configure
Click the pencil (edit) icon
Configure the following:
Users to notify
Reminder frequency
Email template
Click Save changes
Step 4: Choose or Customize the Email Template
Notification emails use Email Marketing templates.
To customize a template:
Go to Emails
Open Templates
Click New
Select Email Marketing Template
Step 5: Use a System Template for Social Planner Notifications
Open the Template Library
Select System Templates
Choose a Social Planner notification template
Edit and save the template
Return to Social Planner Notifications and assign it
Important Behavior Notes
Changing reminder timing does not affect current token cycles
New reminder settings apply only to the next expiration
Notifications are sent by email only
Social accounts must be manually reconnected after expiration
Common Issues and Fixes
Notifications are not sending
The notification toggle is disabled
No users are assigned to receive alerts
The email template was deleted or unpublished
Account expired, but no reminder was received
Pre-expiry notification was not enabled
Reminder timing was changed after the cycle started
The posts failed unexpectedly
Token expired before the scheduled publish time
Reconnect the account and retry the post
