YouTube Live Is Now Supported in the Video Element
The Video element in the Email Builder now supports YouTube Live streams.
Previously, only standard (pre-recorded) YouTube videos could be embedded. Live streams were not supported and could not be displayed correctly in emails.
With this update, YouTube Live URLs can be added to the Video element and rendered properly for recipients.
How YouTube Live Works in Emails
When a YouTube Live stream is added to an email:
A clickable video thumbnail is displayed in the email
Recipients are directed to the live stream when they click
The live status is visually indicated on the video preview
This behavior follows email client limitations and ensures compatibility across inbox providers.
Benefits of YouTube Live Support
Real-Time Audience Engagement
You can promote live broadcasts directly from email, encouraging recipients to join events as they happen.
Seamless Email Builder Integration
No additional setup is required. YouTube Live links work inside the existing Video element.
More Flexible Video Campaigns
You can now use email campaigns for:
Live product launches
Webinars
Announcements
Real-time community events
How to Use YouTube Live in an Email Campaign
Open the Email Builder
Add a Video element to your email
Paste a YouTube Live stream URL
Save and send the campaign
The email will display a live video preview that links to the stream.
Limitations to Be Aware Of
Live video does not play directly inside the email
Clicking the video opens YouTube in a browser or app
Behavior may vary slightly by email client
These limitations are enforced by email providers, not Kyrios.
FAQ
Can the live video play directly inside the email?
No. Email clients do not support inline live video playback. Clicking the video opens the live stream on YouTube.
Does this work for scheduled YouTube Live streams?
Yes. Scheduled live streams will display correctly and open once the stream goes live.
Is this supported in all email clients?
The video preview is supported broadly. The exact appearance may vary depending on the email client.
Do I need a special setting enabled?
No. This works automatically when a YouTube Live URL is added to the Video element.
