This article explains what the NMI payment gateway supports in Kyrios and how to connect it for invoices, Text2Pay links, and order form payments.

Updated over 2 months ago

Who This Is For / When to Use

This article is for account owners who:

  • Want to process credit or debit card payments using NMI.

  • Use invoices, Text2Pay links, or Funnels version 2 order forms.

  • Need recurring billing without creating products inside NMI.

What the NMI Integration Supports

The NMI integration allows Kyrios to process payments through the NMI payment gateway with the following capabilities:

  • Credit and debit card payments only.

  • One-time and recurring payments.

  • One-click upsells on order forms.

  • Automatic payments for recurring templates.

  • Invoice payments.

  • Text2Pay link payments.

  • Order form payments in Funnels version 2 (one-step and two-step).

Additional behavior:

  • Existing products in Kyrios continue to work without changes.

  • Orders and transactions are tracked under Payments → Orders & Transactions.

  • Subscriptions can be canceled directly inside Kyrios.

What the NMI Integration Does Not Support

The following limitations apply:

  • Apple Pay is not supported.

  • Google Pay is not supported.

  • eCheck payments are not supported.

  • 3D Secure (3DS) is not supported.

  • Calendar and membership payments continue to use Stripe.

Do not set NMI as the default gateway if you rely on calendar payments.

Requirements Before Connecting NMI

Before enabling the integration, ensure:

  • You have an active NMI merchant account.

  • Your account is PCI compliant.

  • Funnels version 2 is enabled.

NMI acts as a payment gateway and requires a merchant account to authorize and settle transactions.

Required NMI Credentials

Three credentials are required to connect NMI:

  • Gateway ID

  • Security Key

  • Public Key

How to Find Your NMI Gateway ID

  1. Log in to your NMI Merchant Account.

  2. Go to Settings → Account Information.

  3. Copy the Gateway ID.

How to Create a Security Key in NMI

  1. Log in to your NMI Merchant Account.

  2. Click Options.

  3. Click Settings.

  4. Click Security Keys.

  5. Create a new key.

Security Key Types

  • API – Required for Direct Post, Three-Step Redirect, or Query API.

  • Cart – Used with hosted cart (QuickClick).

  • Tokenization – Used only with Collect.js.

You may enable both API and Cart on the same key.

How to Connect NMI in Kyrios

  1. Go to Payments → Integrations.

  2. Locate NMI (Network Merchants Inc.).

  3. Enter the following:

    • Gateway ID

    • Security Key

    • Public Key

  4. Click Save.

Once connected, you can choose NMI as the default gateway if needed.

Default Gateway Behavior

When multiple gateways are connected:

  • One default gateway must be selected for order form payments.

  • The default gateway applies only to:

    • Order forms

    • Invoices

    • Text2Pay links

PayPal continues to function alongside Stripe, Authorize.net, or NMI.

Subscriptions and Recurring Payments

Recurring products are supported with the following rules:

  • Only one recurring product can be purchased per order form checkout.

  • Subscriptions are tracked under Payments → Subscriptions.

  • Orders and transactions appear under Payments → Orders & Transactions.

  • Subscriptions can be canceled using the Cancel Subscription action.

Kyrios does not use NMI’s Automatic Recurring Billing system.

Subscription Status Definitions

  • Pending – First payment failed or is under review.

  • Trial – Subscription is in a trial period.

  • Active – Last payment succeeded and future payments are scheduled.

  • Unpaid – A payment failed, but retries are in progress.

  • Expired – All payments completed and the subscription ended.

  • Canceled – Subscription was manually canceled.

Payment Retry Logic

If a recurring payment fails:

  • Two retry attempts occur at 24-hour intervals.

  • Status remains Unpaid during retries.

  • If a retry succeeds, the subscription returns to Active.

  • If all retries fail on the final payment, the subscription moves to Expired.

Disconnecting a gateway during an active subscription will cause retries to fail.

Refunds

Refunds are not processed inside Kyrios.

To issue a refund:

  • Log in to the NMI Merchant Portal.

  • Process the refund directly in NMI.

Transaction records in Kyrios remain visible after refunds.

Reporting and Tracking

All NMI payments are available in:

  • Payments → Transactions

  • Payments → Orders

  • Payments → Subscriptions

No changes occur to attribution, workflows, or order form triggers.
