Customize Contact Labels in the Email Builder

You can rename the standard Contacts object (singular and plural) so your Email Builder and CRM display terminology that matches your business, such as Client, Lead, or Member.

Updated over 2 months ago

Who This Is For / When to Use

  • Teams that want Kyrios terminology to match internal language.

  • Accounts that use different naming conventions for contacts (for example, Clients instead of Contacts).

  • Users building emails who want merge fields and labels to reflect custom naming.

How Contact Label Customization Works

  • The Contacts object label can be renamed.

  • Both singular and plural labels are supported.

  • Labels appear exactly as entered, including capitalization.

  • This change affects display names only in the Kyrios interface and Email Builder.

Step-by-Step: Customize Contact Labels

Step 1: Open Objects in Settings

  1. Go to Settings for your account.

  2. Select Objects.

Step 2: Open the Contacts Object

  1. In the Standard Objects list, click Contacts.

Step 3: Update Singular and Plural Labels

  1. In the object settings, locate:

    • Custom Object (Singular)

    • Custom Object (Plural)

  2. Enter your preferred labels (example: Client / Clients).

  3. Save your changes.

Where the Custom Labels Appear

  • Email Builder (labels and merge field context)

  • CRM records

  • Object navigation and headings

  • Internal Kyrios interface references

What This Does Not Change

  • API field names

  • Automations and workflows

  • Tags, triggers, or logic

  • Integrations or external systems

Only the visible label is updated.

Common Issues and Fixes

Label Does Not Update Immediately

  • Refresh the page after saving.

  • Reopen the Email Builder to reload object labels.

Incorrect Capitalization

  • Edit the labels again.

  • Kyrios does not auto-format or correct spelling.

FAQ

Is there a character limit for custom labels?

There is no enforced limit, but short, clear labels are recommended for usability.

No. Custom labels are internal and visible only inside the Kyrios interface and Email Builder.
