Updated over 2 months ago

Who This Is For / When to Use

This trigger is for users who sell memberships or courses and want to automate actions when a contact receives product access.

Use this trigger when you want to:

  • Send onboarding or welcome messages

  • Deliver access instructions automatically

  • Tag or segment contacts by product

  • Trigger upsell or engagement workflows

What the Product Access Granted Trigger Does

The Product Access Granted trigger runs immediately when a contact is granted access to a membership or course product.

When the trigger fires:

  • The contact is added to the workflow

  • Workflow actions run instantly

  • Filters determine which products and contacts qualify

This trigger runs once per access event unless re-entry is enabled.

Requirements Before Using This Trigger

The following conditions must be met:

  • Membership or course products must already exist

  • The contact must be granted access to a product

  • The workflow must be published

If no products exist, the trigger cannot be configured.

Step 1: Create or Open a Workflow

  1. Go to Automations & Workflows > Workflows

  2. Locate an existing workflow or click Create Workflow

  3. Use the workflow actions menu to edit the workflow

This opens the workflow builder.

Step 2: Add the Product Access Granted Trigger

  1. Click Add New Trigger in the workflow canvas

Once selected, the Trigger Setup panel opens automatically.

Step 3: Configure Trigger Settings

Each setting below works independently and can be quoted on its own.

Workflow Trigger Name (Optional)

  • This field changes only the display name inside the workflow builder

  • It does not affect trigger behavior or logic

Use a descriptive name if multiple triggers exist in the same workflow.

Product Filter

The Select Product filter controls which products activate the workflow.

  • If no product is selected:
Any product access grant triggers the workflow

  • If one or more products are selected:
Only access to those products triggers the workflow

This allows you to build product-specific automations.

Custom Field Filters (Optional)

You can further restrict which contacts enter the workflow.

  • Filters are based on existing Custom Fields

  • Only contacts matching the selected values enter the workflow

  • Custom Fields must already exist in the account

Use this to target specific customer segments.

Save the Trigger

Click Save Trigger to apply the trigger settings

The trigger is now active in the workflow.

Step 4: Add Workflow Actions

After the trigger fires, you can add any workflow actions, including:

  • Sending emails or SMS messages

  • Tagging contacts

  • Updating contact fields

  • Assigning tasks or users

  • Triggering additional workflows

Actions run in sequence for every qualifying access event.

Step 5: Save, Test, and Publish the Workflow

  1. Click Save in the top-right corner

  2. Toggle Publish to enable the workflow

  3. Click Test Workflow to confirm behavior

Testing ensures the workflow runs correctly before going live.
