The Lead Created workflow trigger starts an automation when a new lead is created, allowing you to notify affiliates, alert internal teams, or run follow-up actions immediately.

Updated over 3 months ago

Who This Is For / When to Use

Use this trigger if you want automation to run as soon as a lead is created, especially for affiliate-driven lead generation, internal alerts, or real-time engagement workflows.

What the Lead Created Trigger Does

The Lead Created trigger fires each time a new lead is created in the account.
When the trigger runs, the associated contact is added to the workflow and proceeds through the actions you configure.

This trigger supports optional filters, allowing you to control which leads should enter the workflow.

How to Add the Lead Created Trigger

Step 1: Create or Open a Workflow

  1. Go to Automations > Workflows.

  2. Click Create Workflow.

Step 2: Add the Trigger

  1. Click Add New Trigger.

  2. From the trigger list, select Lead Created.

  3. (Optional) Rename the trigger for clarity.

Step 3: (Optional) Add Filters

Filters allow the workflow to run only for specific leads.

Common use cases include:

  • Limiting execution to leads from a specific campaign

  • Preventing unnecessary workflow runs

If no filters are applied, every new lead will trigger the workflow.

Using Custom Values with Lead Created

When adding actions such as Send Email, Send SMS, or Internal Notification, you can personalize messages using Lead Created custom values.

Available custom values include:

  • Affiliate Name

  • Affiliate First Name

  • Affiliate Email

  • Customer Name

  • Customer Email

  • Campaign Name

  • Affiliate Referral Link

  • Lead ID

These values allow messages to dynamically populate lead and affiliate details.

What Happens After the Trigger Fires

Once triggered, the workflow can perform any supported workflow action, including:

  • Send email or SMS

  • Send internal notification

  • Assign a task

  • Apply or remove tags

  • Update contact fields

The workflow continues only if the trigger (and filters, if applied) are satisfied.
