What the Issue Certificate Action Does
The Issue Certificate action automates certificate or badge issuance inside workflows. When triggered, it issues a selected certificate or badge template and can be combined with other actions such as email notifications, record updates, or reporting.
Note: This workflow action can also be used to issue badges.
Note: All certificates issued via workflows are stored in Membership → Credentials → Issued Certificates for easy tracking and reporting.
How to Use the Issue Certificate Action
Step 1: Access the Workflow Builder
Go to Automation → Workflows, then create a new workflow or open an existing one.
Step 2: Add the Certificates Issued Trigger
In the workflow builder:
Click Add Trigger
Select Certificates Issued as the trigger
Rename the trigger if needed
Step 3: Configure Trigger Filters
Use filters to control when the workflow runs:
Filter by Certificate Template
Apply conditional operators (Is, Is Not, etc.)
This ensures the workflow only runs for the certificates or badges you specify.
Step 4: Add the Issue Certificate Action
Click the + icon below the trigger and select Issue Certificate as the action.
Step 5: Select Certificate or Badge Templates
Choose the certificate or badge template you want to issue when the workflow runs.
Make sure:
The template is fully configured
Required custom fields are populated
Step 6: Save, Test, and Publish
Save the workflow
Use Test Workflow to confirm correct behavior
Toggle the workflow to Publish when ready
