Troubleshooting Custom URL Redirection After Signing a Contract

This article explains how to troubleshoot and fix issues with custom URL redirection after a document is signed or paid, including global and document-level redirect settings in Kyrios.

Who This Is For / When to Use

This article is for users who want customers to be redirected to a specific page after signing a proposal, estimate, or contract and are experiencing issues with redirects not working, opening incorrectly, or conflicting between global and document-level settings.

Global custom URL redirection is not working

Global redirection does not work when the setting is disabled or not saved correctly in Document Settings.

How to fix:

  1. Go to Payments → Documents & Contracts.

  2. Click Settings (gear icon) in the top-right corner.

  3. Select Document settings from the left sidebar.

  4. Enable Redirect to a custom URL.

  5. Enter a valid URL.

  6. Choose whether to open in the same tab or a new tab.

  7. Click Save.

Document-specific redirect is not triggering

A document-level redirect fails when the redirect toggle is disabled or the URL is missing in the document settings.

How to fix:

  1. Open the specific document.

  2. Click Settings at the top of the document editor.

  3. Enable Enable redirection to custom URL.

  4. Enter the desired URL.

  5. Select Open in existing tab or Open in new tab.

  6. Click Save or Send.

Global and document-level redirects are conflicting

Redirect conflicts occur when both global and document-level redirects are enabled with different URLs.

How to fix:

  1. Decide whether the document should use a global or document-specific redirect.

  2. If using a document-specific URL, disable the global redirect.

  3. If using the global redirect, ensure the document-level redirect toggle is turned off.

  4. Save all changes.

Important behavior:

  • Document-level URLs take priority over global URLs.

Redirect does not work after payment completion

Post-payment redirects fail when redirect settings are not configured or the document is not tested correctly.

How to fix:

  1. Verify global or document-level redirect settings are enabled.

  2. Use Preview to simulate document signing and payment.

  3. Confirm the redirect occurs after the payment step completes.

Tip: Always test redirects using preview or a test payment before sending documents to customers.

Redirect does not open in a new tab

Redirects fail to open in a new tab when browser pop-up blocking prevents the action.

How to fix:

  1. Confirm Open in New Tab is selected in redirect settings.

  2. Check browser pop-up and redirect permissions.

  3. Test the document in another browser.

Redirect URL is incorrect or broken

Redirects fail when the entered URL contains typos or formatting errors.

How to fix:

  1. Verify the URL starts with https://.

  2. Paste the URL directly into a browser to confirm it loads.

  3. Re-enter the URL in the document or global settings.

  4. Save changes and test again.

Best practices for custom URL redirection

Custom URL redirection works best when URLs are specific, tested, and aligned with the document’s purpose.

Recommended use cases:

  • Thank-you or confirmation pages

  • Onboarding instructions

  • Scheduling links

  • Upsell or next-step offers

Tips:

  • Use document-level redirects for upsells or unique follow-ups.

  • Use global redirects for consistent post-signing behavior.

  • Always test before sending live documents.
