This feature is for community members and course managers using the Kyrios Communities module. Use this guide to understand how course filtering and sorting operates for members browsing course libraries, and how course creators configure filter attributes inside the course builder.
How Course Filtering and Sorting Works
Course filtering and sorting allows community members to narrow down and reorder available courses on the Learning tab.
When courses are assigned specific metadata attributes by a creator, members can select combinations of topic, difficulty, and language parameters to locate relevant learning material.
How to Filter Courses as a Member
Members can apply single or multiple filter criteria on desktop and mobile to refine the displayed course list.
Desktop Filtering Steps
Navigate to the Communities tab in your account.
Select your community and click the Learning tab.
Locate the left sidebar menu containing the filter options.
Select one or more check boxes under the Topic, Difficulty, or Language sections.
View the filtered list instantly update in the main view.
Mobile App Filtering Steps
Open the Kyrios Mobile App and navigate to the Communities area.
Tap the Learning tab at the top of the screen.
Tap the filter chips (Topic, Difficulty, or Language) located at the top of the interface.
Select the desired values from the bottom sheet overlay that appears.
Tap Apply to submit the selected filter values.
How to Sort Courses
Members can reorder how courses are displayed on the Learning page using the sort dropdown menu.
Sorting Steps
Navigate to the Learning page inside your community.
Locate the Sort dropdown menu (located in the top left sidebar on desktop or top toolbar on mobile).
Select one of the available sort options:
Title (A–Z)
Title (Z–A)
Newest
Oldest
View the course list instantly reorder based on the selected parameter.
How to Assign Filter Values to Courses as a Creator
Filters are populated dynamically based on attributes defined in the course builder settings.
Setup Steps
Go to Sites or Memberships & Courses in your account.
Open the course builder for the target course.
Access the course settings panel.
Assign the appropriate metadata fields:
Topic
Difficulty (e.g., Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced)
Language (e.g., English, Spanish, Italian)
Save and publish the course updates. Once saved, these values automatically populate the community filter options.
Common Issues and Fixes
Filter Options Are Missing on the Learning Page
Cause: No published courses in the community have been assigned Topic, Difficulty, or Language values in the course builder.
Fix: Open the course builder for your published courses, populate the metadata fields, and save the settings. Filter options appear automatically once at least one course contains assigned values.
A Selected Filter Combination Displays No Results
Cause: No active courses meet all selected filter criteria simultaneously.
Fix: Click Reset all in the top left of the filter panel on desktop, or clear selected values in the mobile bottom sheet to restore the full course view.
