Use the Rich Text Element in the Website and Funnel Builder

The Rich Text element lets you combine headings, paragraphs, block quotes, code, advanced lists, highlighting, and other text formatting inside a single Website or Funnel Builder element.

How to Add a Rich Text Element

To add Rich Text to a website or funnel page:

  1. Open the page in the Website or Funnel Builder.

  2. Click Quick Add in the left panel.

  3. Locate Rich Text under the text elements.

  4. Drag the Rich Text element into the desired row or column.

  5. Click inside the element to begin entering and formatting content.

Format Paragraphs and Headings

A single Rich Text element can contain both paragraphs and headings. Available heading levels include:

  • Heading 1

  • Heading 2

  • Heading 3

  • Heading 4

  • Heading 5

  • Heading 6

  • Paragraph

To change the format of existing text:

  1. Highlight the text you want to change.

  2. Open the text-format dropdown in the floating toolbar.

  3. Select Paragraph or the required heading level.

Only the selected text is changed, allowing multiple text styles within the same Rich Text element.

Create a Block Quote

Block quotes provide a distinct format for quotations, testimonials, callouts, or other content that should be visually separated from normal paragraphs. To create a block quote using a text shortcut:

  1. Place the cursor at the beginning of a new line in a Rich Text element.

  2. Type the greater-than symbol (>) and press enter.

  3. Begin entering the quote text.

The editor converts the line into block quote formatting.

Create Inline Code

Inline code is used when a short code value or technical term needs to appear within surrounding text. To create inline code:

  1. Enter text inside a Rich Text element.

  2. Surround the content with single backticks (`)

Create a Full Code Block

A full code block separates longer code or preformatted content from the surrounding text. To create a full code block:

  1. Start a new line in the Rich Text element.

  2. Type triple backticks (```)

  3. Press Enter.

  4. Enter the content inside the generated code block.

Use a full code block when the code should appear on its own rather than inside a paragraph.

Create Ordered, Unordered, and Nested Lists

The Rich Text element supports multiple list styles and nested list levels. You can create a list by using the list controls in the floating toolbar or by starting a supported list shortcut while typing. For unordered lists, available styles can include:

  • Bullets

  • Circles

  • Squares

For ordered lists, available styles can include:

  • Numeric: 1, 2, 3

  • Lowercase letters: a, b, c

  • Uppercase letters: A, B, C

  • Lowercase Roman numerals: i, ii, iii

  • Uppercase Roman numerals: I, II, III

To create or change a list:

  1. Select the text or place the cursor where the list should begin.

  2. Select Unordered List or Ordered List from the floating toolbar.

  3. Open the associated list-style menu when you need a different marker or numbering format.

  4. Use Tab to move a list item to a nested level.

  5. Use Shift + Tab to move a nested item back one level.

You can also create a list by typing asterisk (*) then hitting space.

Highlight Text With a Background Color

Use text highlighting to draw attention to specific words or phrases without changing the formatting of the entire Rich Text element. To highlight text:

  1. Select the text you want to emphasize.

  2. Open the color control in the floating toolbar.

  3. Choose the required highlight color from the available brand, default, or custom colors.

Only the selected text receives the highlight treatment.

Rich Text Keyboard and Markdown Shortcuts

Rich Text supports shortcuts that can make common formatting actions faster.

Action

Shortcut

Apply Heading 1–6

Ctrl + Alt + 1–6 on Windows or Command + Option + 1–6 on Mac

Create a block quote

Begin a line with > + space

Create inline code

Wrap text in single backticks: `code`

Create a full code block

Type three backticks ``` and press Enter

Nest a list item

Press Tab

Move a nested list item back one level

Press Shift + Tab

Shortcut behavior applies while editing content inside a Rich Text element.

Style a Rich Text Element

The Rich Text element includes element-level styling controls in addition to the formatting available from the floating toolbar. Depending on the available settings, you can configure:

  • Font family

  • Font size

  • Font weight

  • Line height

  • Spacing

  • Alignment

  • Colors

  • Shadows

  • Animations

  • Device visibility

Custom styling options are available in the builder.

Use the floating toolbar to format selected text inside the element. Use the element settings panel when you want to change styling that applies at the Rich Text element level.

Adjust List Item Spacing

List Item Spacing controls the vertical gap between separate items in a Rich Text list. This setting is different from Line Height:

  • Line Height controls spacing between lines of text within an item.

  • List Item Spacing controls the gap between separate list items.

To adjust list spacing:

  1. Select the Rich Text element.

  2. Open the element's Styles settings.

  3. Locate List Item Spacing near the text spacing controls.

  4. Increase or decrease the value as needed.

List Item Spacing is useful when lists feel too compressed or too spread out, especially on smaller screens. Supported elements: Rich Text and Bullet List.

Support for this setting in other editors is not confirmed by the provided documentation.

Rich Text Compared With a Paragraph Element

A Paragraph element is intended for standard paragraph content. A Rich Text element supports more complex formatting within one text container, including:

  • Multiple heading levels

  • Paragraphs

  • Block quotes

  • Inline code

  • Full code blocks

  • Advanced lists

  • Nested lists

  • Text highlighting

Use a Paragraph element when the content only needs standard paragraph formatting. Use Rich Text when different content structures or formatting styles need to exist together in the same element.

Common Issues and Fixes

The heading dropdown does not change all of my text

The heading or paragraph selection applies to the text you are actively editing or have selected. Highlight the exact text that should change, then choose the required format from the floating toolbar.

My code is not turning into inline code

Inline code requires the content to be wrapped in single backticks. Make sure you are using one backtick before and after the content rather than quotation marks or apostrophes.

My full code block is not being created

Start on a new line, type three backticks, and press Enter. Single backticks create inline code instead of a full code block.

My nested list is returning to the previous level

Pressing Shift + Tab moves a nested list item back one level. Use Tab when you want to move an item deeper into the list hierarchy.

I need different formatting within one text area

Use a Rich Text element instead of a standard Paragraph element. Rich Text allows headings, paragraphs, lists, quotes, code, and other supported formatting to coexist within one element.

FAQ

Can I convert an existing Paragraph element into a Rich Text element?

No. The provided documentation does not describe a conversion option between the two element types. Add a Rich Text element when you need Rich Text formatting.

How do I create nested lists?

Create the list first, then press Tab on a list item to move it to a nested level. Press Shift + Tab to move the item back one level.

Can I use a Rich Text element for normal paragraphs?

Yes. A Rich Text element can contain standard paragraph text. Use Rich Text when you also need advanced formatting such as headings, block quotes, code, highlighting, or nested lists.

What is the difference between Rich Text and Paragraph elements?

A Paragraph element is designed for standard paragraph content. Rich Text supports multiple content and formatting types inside one element, including headings, quotes, code, advanced lists, and highlighting.

Can I use headings and paragraphs in the same Rich Text element?

Yes. Individual sections of text can be formatted as Paragraph or Heading 1 through Heading 6 within the same Rich Text element.

Can I change the bullet or numbering style of a list?

Yes. Rich Text supports multiple unordered and ordered list styles, including bullet, circle, square, numeric, alphabetical, and Roman numeral formats.

What does List Item Spacing change?

List Item Spacing changes the vertical gap between separate list items. It does not replace Line Height, which controls spacing between lines of text within an individual list item.

Do global fonts and colors apply to Rich Text?

The Rich Text element uses the builder's standard typography and styling system. Element-level typography and color settings can also be adjusted through the Rich Text settings.
