Create Dynamic Email Variations with Spintax

Spintax lets you create multiple email content variations inside one message so Kyrios can automatically rotate wording when the email is sent.

Who This Is For / When to Use

Use Spintax when you want emails to feel more natural, less repetitive, and more personalized without creating multiple versions of the same email manually.

Spintax is useful for users who send:

  • Cold outreach emails

  • Follow-up emails

  • Appointment reminders

  • Re-engagement emails

  • Automated workflow emails

  • Bulk email campaigns

  • One-to-one email templates

Spintax helps you create controlled variation inside your message. It should not replace strong copy, clean contact data, or proper email sending practices. Sadly, rotating “Hi” into “Hey” is not a magic deliverability potion, because email providers have evolved past caveman-level pattern detection.

What Spintax Is

Spintax is a formatting method that lets you place several wording options inside one section of email copy.

Kyrios automatically selects one option from the Spintax group when the email is sent.

Use this format:

{SPIN|Option 1|Option 2|Option 3}

Example:

{SPIN|Hey|Hi|Hello} {{contact.first_name}}

Possible outputs:

Hey John

Hi John

Hello John

Each recipient receives one selected version from the available options.

Where Spintax Can Be Used

Spintax can be used in most Kyrios email creation areas.

Supported areas include:

  • Conversations

  • Bulk Actions

  • Workflows

  • Email Builder

Spintax works inside email content where Kyrios processes dynamic message values.

Why Spintax Is Useful

Spintax helps you create message variation without building separate email templates.

Use Spintax to:

  • Create unique message variations automatically

  • Reduce repetitive wording across large campaigns

  • Personalize messages at scale

  • Test different message styles

  • Make automated emails feel more conversational

  • Avoid sending the exact same body copy to every recipient

Example without Spintax:

Hey {{contact.first_name}}, just checking in about your appointment tomorrow.

Example with Spintax:

{SPIN|Just checking in|Quick reminder|Friendly reminder} about your appointment tomorrow, {{contact.first_name}}.

Possible outputs:

Just checking in about your appointment tomorrow, John.

Quick reminder about your appointment tomorrow, John.

Friendly reminder about your appointment tomorrow, John.

Spintax and Email Deliverability

When every recipient receives the exact same email, mailbox providers may identify the content as highly repetitive.

Spintax helps reduce content uniformity by rotating words, phrases, or sentences across sends.

Example:

{SPIN|Hi|Hello|Hey} {{contact.first_name}}

This can create small variations in each email.

For better results, use Spintax on complete phrases or sentences instead of only changing one word.

Better example:

{SPIN|I wanted to quickly follow up on your request.|I’m checking in to see if you still need help with this.|I wanted to see if this is still something you’re working on.}

Each option communicates the same idea using different natural wording.

Important Spintax Guidelines

Use Spintax thoughtfully. Modern email providers can recognize simple word substitutions. Changing only greetings may have limited impact.

For best results:

  • Spin complete phrases or sentences.

  • Keep every variation natural and conversational.

  • Combine Spintax with contact fields and Custom Values.

  • Make sure every variation has the same meaning.

  • Keep the same offer, CTA, and promise across all variations.

  • Review every variation before sending.

Do not use Spintax to make unsupported claims, change pricing, change the offer, or send mixed messages.

Bad example:

{SPIN|Automate your entire business overnight|Never lose another lead again|Replace your whole sales team with AI}

This creates inconsistent claims. A tiny legal and deliverability gremlin, neatly wrapped in curly braces.

Better example:

{SPIN|You can automate your follow-up process.|You can reduce manual follow-up work.|You can keep leads moving without checking every step manually.}

Each variation supports the same message.

How to Use Spintax in an Email

  1. Open the email editor in Kyrios.

  2. Click into the email body where you want the variation to appear.

  3. Type the Spintax keyword and opening structure:

    {SPIN|

  4. Add each content option after the pipe symbol.

  5. Separate each option with a pipe symbol:

    |

  6. Close the Spintax group with a closing curly brace:

    }

  7. Save the message or template.

  8. Send or schedule the email.

Kyrios automatically selects one option from the Spintax group when the message is sent.

Example:

{SPIN|Hey|Hello|Hi} {{contact.first_name}}

Possible outputs:

Hey John

Hello John

Hi John

Correct Spintax Format

Spintax must follow this structure: {SPIN|Option 1|Option 2|Option 3}

Required parts:

  • Opening curly brace: {

  • Keyword: SPIN

  • Pipe before the first option: |

  • Pipe between each option: |

  • Closing curly brace: }

Correct: {SPIN|Hope you're doing well.|Wanted to quickly connect.|I wanted to reach out.}

Incorrect: {SPIN Hope you're doing well|Wanted to quickly connect}

Incorrect: {SPIN|Hope you're doing well, Wanted to quickly connect}

Incorrect: {SPIN|Hope you're doing well.|Wanted to quickly connect.

Common Use Cases and Examples

Greetings

Use Spintax to rotate simple greetings.

Example:

{SPIN|Hey|Hi|Hello} {{contact.first_name}}

Possible outputs:

Hey John

Hi John

Hello John

Opening Lines

Use Spintax to make the first sentence feel less repetitive.

Example:

{SPIN|Hope you're doing well.|I wanted to quickly connect.|I’m reaching out with a quick update.}

Possible outputs:

Hope you're doing well.

I wanted to quickly connect.

I’m reaching out with a quick update.

Appointment Reminders

Use Spintax to vary reminder language.

Example:

{SPIN|Just a reminder|Friendly reminder|Quick reminder} about your appointment tomorrow.

Possible outputs:

Just a reminder about your appointment tomorrow.

Friendly reminder about your appointment tomorrow.

Quick reminder about your appointment tomorrow.

Follow-Up Messages

Use Spintax to rotate follow-up phrasing.

Example:

{SPIN|Checking in|Following up|Wanted to circle back} on our previous conversation.

Possible outputs:

Checking in on our previous conversation.

Following up on our previous conversation.

Wanted to circle back on our previous conversation.

Calls to Action

Use Spintax to test different CTA phrasing while keeping the action the same.

Example:

{SPIN|Would you like to learn more?|Interested in hearing more?|Want to schedule a quick call?}

Possible outputs:

Would you like to learn more?

Interested in hearing more?

Want to schedule a quick call?

Use this only when each option points to the same next step.

Email Body Variations

Use Spintax to rotate full sentences inside the body of an email.

Example:

{SPIN|Thanks for your interest.|Appreciate your time.|Thanks for connecting with us.}

Possible outputs:

Thanks for your interest.

Appreciate your time.

Thanks for connecting with us.

Using Contact Fields Inside Spintax

You can include contact fields inside Spintax variations.

Example:

{SPIN|Hi {{contact.first_name}}|Hello {{contact.first_name}}|Hey {{contact.first_name}}}

Possible outputs:

Hi John

Hello John

Hey John

You can also use different contact fields in different variations.

Example:

{SPIN|Hi {{contact.first_name}}|Hi {{contact.last_name}}}

Possible outputs:

Hi John

Hi Smith

Use the exact field format available in your Kyrios account. Field names may vary based on the contact field or Custom Value selected.

Using Custom Values Inside Spintax

You can include Custom Values inside Spintax variations.

Example:

{SPIN|Learn more about {{customvalue1}}|See how {{customvalue2}} can help your business}

Possible outputs:

Learn more about Website Design

See how Website Design can help your business

Custom Values help make Spintax more flexible because each variation can include different dynamic information.

Combining Spintax with Personalization

Spintax works best when combined with personalization.

Basic example:

{SPIN|Hi|Hello|Hey} {{contact.first_name}}

Better example:

{SPIN|I saw you were interested in {{customvalue1}}.|I wanted to follow up about {{customvalue1}}.|I’m reaching out because {{customvalue1}} may still be relevant for you.}

This creates more meaningful variation than only rotating the greeting.

Use Spintax with:

  • Contact first name

  • Contact last name

  • Company name

  • Appointment details

  • Offer names

  • Service names

  • Location details

  • Custom Values

  • CRM fields

Best Practices for Spintax

Use Spintax on sentence-level variations whenever possible.

Good:

{SPIN|I wanted to see if you still need help with this.|I’m checking in to see if this is still a priority.|I wanted to follow up before this gets buried.}

Less useful:

{SPIN|Hi|Hello|Hey}

Keep every variation aligned with the same message.

Good:

{SPIN|Would you like to schedule a quick call?|Do you want to book a short call?|Would it help to talk through this for a few minutes?}

Bad:

{SPIN|Would you like to schedule a call?|Click here to buy now.|Reply STOP if you're not interested.}

Avoid excessive Spintax in one email. Too many variations can make the email harder to review and easier to break. Because apparently even punctuation wants a chance to ruin your campaign.

Common Issues and Fixes

Spintax is sending as plain text

Check the syntax.

Correct format: {SPIN|Option 1|Option 2|Option 3}

Make sure the Spintax group includes:

  • {SPIN|

  • A pipe between each option

  • A closing }

Only one variation is appearing

Kyrios selects one variation each time the content is sent. A single preview or test may only show one selected option. Send multiple tests to confirm that different variations can appear.

The contact field is not populating

Check that the contact field exists and has data for the recipient.

Example: {{contact.first_name}}

If the contact does not have a first name saved, the field may appear blank. Use the merge field picker in Kyrios when possible to avoid field formatting errors.

The email sounds inconsistent

Review every variation inside each Spintax group.

Every option should:

  • Match the same tone

  • Support the same message

  • Lead to the same CTA

  • Avoid conflicting claims

  • Read naturally as part of the full sentence

The sentence looks broken after sending

Check the words before and after the Spintax group.

Example problem: I wanted to {SPIN|checking in|follow up|circle back} with you.

Possible broken output: I wanted to checking in with you.

Better: {SPIN|I wanted to check in with you.|I wanted to follow up with you.|I wanted to circle back with you.}

Spin the full phrase or sentence when grammar could change.
