How Exit Intent Pop-ups Work
Exit intent pop-ups use cursor movement to detect when a visitor may be leaving the page. The pop-up usually appears when the visitor moves their mouse toward the browser bar, back button, or close button. Exit intent detection works on desktop browsers only. It does not work the same way on mobile devices because mobile users do not use a mouse cursor.
Create or Select a Form for the Pop-up
Before building the pop-up, create or select the form you want visitors to complete.
The form controls what information is collected, such as:
Name
Email address
Phone number
Custom form fields
Use a short form when the goal is quick lead capture.
Open the Pop-up Settings in the Builder
Go to Sites.
Open the website or funnel you want to edit.
Select the page or funnel step where the pop-up should appear.
Click Edit to open the builder.
Click the Pop-up Settings icon in the top toolbar.

You can edit the pop-up background, spacing, form fields, and layout from the builder sidebar.

To make the pop-up trigger when a visitor attempts to leave:
Click the blue Popup Settings button at the top of the pop-up.
In the right sidebar, find Show popup on.
Select Exit from the dropdown.
Save the page.
Test the Exit Intent Pop-up
After saving and publishing the page, test the pop-up on desktop.
Preview or open the published page.
Move your cursor toward the top of the browser window.
Confirm the pop-up appears.
Submit the form to confirm lead capture works.
Adjust the design or copy if needed.
Desktop and Mobile Behavior
Exit intent pop-ups work on desktop because they rely on mouse cursor tracking. Exit intent pop-ups do not work the same way on mobile because mobile devices use touch gestures instead of a cursor. For mobile visitors, use other engagement options such as timed pop-ups, embedded forms, buttons, banners, or mobile-optimized calls-to-action.
Common Issues and Fixes
The pop-up does not appear on exit
Confirm Show popup on is set to Exit. If the setting is set to None, the pop-up will not display. If the setting is set to Delay, the pop-up will appear after a time delay instead of the exit behavior.
The pop-up works on desktop but not on mobile
This is expected behavior. Exit intent uses cursor movement, which is not available on mobile touchscreens.
The wrong form appears in the pop-up
Open the pop-up in the builder, select the form element, and choose the correct form from the form picker.
The pop-up design does not match the page
Use the pop-up sidebar settings to adjust background, spacing, row style, column style, and form styling.
FAQ
Can I use an exit intent pop-up on a non-Kyrios website?
No. Exit intent pop-ups are configured inside Kyrios' websites and funnels.
What happens if I choose None or Delay instead of Exit?
The pop-up will not behave as an exit intent pop-up. None disables the pop-up, and Delay shows it after a time delay.
Can I use different forms for different pop-ups?
Yes. Each page or funnel step can use its own pop-up and form.
Can I preview the pop-up before publishing?
Yes. Use the preview option in the builder to test the pop-up before publishing.
Can I customize the pop-up design?
Yes. You can customize the pop-up layout, background, spacing, form styling, and content to match your branding.
