Standard Builder: Drag and Move Workflow Nodes

You can now drag and reposition workflow nodes directly on the canvas without using menus or rebuilding steps.

Who This Is For / When to Use

Use this feature when you need to:

  • Reorganize workflow steps quickly

  • Adjust logic or branch structure

  • Clean up complex workflows

  • Move actions without deleting and recreating them

What’s New

Workflow nodes can now be moved using drag-and-drop directly inside the Standard Builder.

This removes the need to:

  • Use right-click move options

  • Delete and rebuild steps

  • Manually recreate workflow structures

How Drag and Drop Works

Each node includes a drag handle that appears on hover.

  • A 6-dot handle appears when you hover over a node

  • You can click and drag the node to a new position

  • The canvas shows a “Move here” indicator for valid drop locations

  • Dropping the node updates its position in the workflow

How to Move a Node

  1. Open your workflow in the Standard Builder

  2. Hover over the node you want to move

  3. Click and hold the 6-dot drag handle

  4. Drag the node to the desired location

  5. Release the node where the “Move here” indicator appears

Where You Can Move Nodes

Nodes can be repositioned:

  • Between existing steps

  • Into different branches

  • Before or after other actions

Only valid placements are allowed and are visually indicated on the canvas.

Why This Matters

Faster Workflow Editing

Move steps instantly without rebuilding logic.

Improved Workflow Organization

Quickly clean up layouts and structure complex flows.

Better Control Over Logic

Easily adjust branches and sequencing as workflows evolve.

Common Issues and Fixes

Drag handle not visible

  • Ensure you are hovering directly over the node

  • The handle only appears on hover

Cannot drop node in a location

  • The location may not be valid

  • Look for the “Move here” indicator before releasing

Node moved but workflow behavior changed

  • Verify the node’s new position aligns with intended logic

  • Check branch conditions if moved across paths

FAQ

Can I move nodes between branches?

Yes. You can drag nodes across branches as long as the drop location is valid.

Do I need to recreate connections after moving a node?

No. Connections update automatically when the node is dropped in a valid position.

Can I undo a node move?

Use the undo option in the workflow builder if you need to revert changes.

Is this available for all workflows?

Yes. This feature is available in the Standard Builder.
