How Subscription Payment Update Links Work

Payment update links allow customers to update their subscription payment method.

  • Links are subscription-specific

  • Each link is valid for 30 days

  • Updated payment methods apply starting with the next billing cycle

  • Multiple links can be generated per subscription

  • All active links can be revoked at any time

Where to Find Subscriptions

Step 1: Open Subscriptions

  • Go to Payments from the left navigation

  • Select Subscriptions at the top

Send a Payment Update Link (List View)

Step 2: Use the Quick Action Menu

  • Locate the subscription

  • Click the three-dot menu

  • Select Share payment update link

Step 3: Open Subscription Details

  • Click a subscription to open Subscription Details

  • Click Actions

  • Select Share payment update link

Choose How to Deliver the Link

Step 4: Share the Link

You can deliver the payment update link in two ways:

  • Send email

    • Sends the link directly to the customer

  • Copy link

    • Share via SMS, chat, or other channels

You can also deactivate all previously shared links from this screen.

Customer Updates Their Payment Method

What the Customer Sees

  • Subscription details

  • Current billing amount

  • Secure form to enter a new card

After submission, the payment method is immediately attached to the subscription.

What Happens After the Update

  • The subscription remains active

  • The new payment method is used for future charges

  • A confirmation message is shown after a successful update

Common Issues and Fixes

Link Has Expired

Cause: The link is older than 30 days.
Fix: Generate and share a new payment update link.

Customer Used the Wrong Link

Cause: Multiple links were previously shared.
Fix: Deactivate all links and generate a new one.

Payment Was Not Charged Immediately

Cause: Updates apply to the next billing cycle only.
Fix: This is expected behavior.

How long is a payment update link valid?

Each link is valid for 30 days from the time it is generated.

Can I send the link through channels other than email?

Yes.
You can copy the link and share it via SMS, chat, or any messaging platform.

Can I generate multiple links for the same subscription?

Yes.
Multiple links can be generated, and all can be revoked if needed.

Where can I deactivate shared links?

Deactivate links from the Share payment update link panel for that subscription.

When does the new payment method take effect?

The updated payment method is charged starting with the next billing cycle.

Does updating the payment method cancel the subscription?

No.
The subscription stays active and unchanged.
