Card Authorization on Website Order Forms

Enable Card Authorization on a website order form to temporarily verify customer funds before granting access to a subscription or payment plan.

Important Limitations and Behavior

  • Card Authorization is off by default and must be enabled per product.

  • This feature works only with subscriptions and payment plans.

  • One-time payments are not supported.

  • Authorized funds may take up to 5 business days to be released back to the customer’s bank.

  • If the plan includes trial days, the trial begins immediately after authorization.

  • If authorization fails, the customer is not granted access until payment succeeds.

Step 1: Open the Products Menu for the Order Form Page

  1. Go to Sites and open the website containing your order form.

  2. Select the Pages tab.

  3. Locate the page with the order form.

  4. Click the three-dot menu on the page card.

  5. Select Products.

This opens the product list connected to that order form page.

Step 2: Add or Select a Product on the Order Form

If no products are listed, you must add one before continuing.

  1. Click Add Product.

  2. Select an existing product or create a new one.

Once the product appears in the list, proceed to edit its settings.

Step 3: Enable Custom Authorization on the Product

  1. Click the Edit icon on the product.

  2. Scroll to Additional Options.

  3. Enable Custom Authorization.

  4. Enter the authorization amount.

The amount entered is temporarily authorized on the customer’s card and later released.

Step 4: Save the Product Settings

Click Save to apply the Card Authorization settings.

The order form will now attempt a card authorization before granting access.

Common Issues and Fixes

  • Custom Authorization option not visible

    • Confirm the product is a subscription or payment plan.

  • Customer charged but access not granted

    • Authorization failed due to insufficient funds.

  • Funds not returned immediately

    • Banks can take up to 5 business days to release authorization holds.

Can Card Authorization be used for one-time payments?

No. Card Authorization works only with subscriptions and payment plans.

Yes. Each product can have its own Card Authorization settings.
