What the Instagram DM Integration Enables

Once connected, you can:

  • View and reply to Instagram DMs in Conversations

  • Trigger workflows when a customer replies on Instagram

  • Sync Instagram messaging with Facebook-connected tools

  • Manage social conversations without leaving Kyrios

Requirements:

  • An Instagram Business or Creator account

  • The Instagram account must be connected to a Facebook Page

  • Messaging access must be enabled in Instagram settings

Step 1: Connect Your Instagram Account to a Facebook Page

Instagram Direct Messaging requires a Facebook Page connection.

  1. Ensure your Instagram Business or Creator account is connected to a Facebook Page.

  2. Follow Instagram’s official connection steps inside Meta.

Important:
Instagram messaging permissions must also be enabled to allow third-party access.

Result:
Your Instagram account is ready for external messaging access.

Step 2: Enable Message Access in the Instagram App

Instagram controls whether third-party tools can access DMs.

  1. Open the Instagram mobile app.

  2. Go to Settings.

  3. Select Privacy.

  4. Tap Messages.

Then:

  1. Open Message controls.

  2. Under Connected tools, enable Allow access to messages.

Result:
Kyrios and other approved tools can access Instagram DMs.

Step 3: Connect Facebook and Instagram in Kyrios

  1. In Kyrios, go to Settings.

  2. Select Integrations.

  3. Click Connect under Facebook and Instagram.

Notes:

  • Icons appear gray before connection

  • Icons turn colored when successfully connected

  • You may be prompted to log in and approve permissions

Result:
Your Facebook Page and Instagram account are now connected to Kyrios.

Step 4: Respond to Instagram DMs in Conversations

Once connected:

  1. Go to Conversations.

  2. Open a message sent via Instagram DM.

  3. Reply directly from Kyrios.

Result:
Instagram DMs are managed alongside other communication channels.

Step 5: Trigger Workflows from Instagram DMs

Instagram DMs can be used as workflow triggers.

  1. Go to Automations > Workflows.

  2. Add a trigger.

  3. Select Customer replied.

  4. Set Reply channel to Instagram DM.

Result:
Workflows run automatically when an Instagram message is received.

Important Messaging Control Behavior

If “Allow access to messages” is ON

  • Instagram DMs flow into Kyrios

  • Conversations and workflows work as expected

If “Allow access to messages” is OFF

  • Instagram DMs stop syncing

  • Workflows no longer trigger

  • Messages are only visible inside Instagram

Common Issues and Fixes

Instagram DMs not appearing

Confirm:

  • Instagram is connected to a Facebook Page

  • Facebook and Instagram are connected in Settings > Integrations

  • Allow access to messages is enabled in Instagram

Workflow trigger not firing

Ensure:

  • Trigger type is Customer replied

  • Reply channel is set to Instagram DM

Messages worked before but stopped

Check Instagram message access settings. Turning them off immediately breaks the integration.

Can I disconnect Instagram DMs from Kyrios?

Yes. Go to Settings > Integrations and disconnect Instagram.

Will my Instagram DMs still appear in the Instagram app?

Yes. Messages remain available in Instagram even when connected to Kyrios.
