Who This Is For / When to Use
Use this trigger if you want to automate actions based on subscription lifecycle events like onboarding new subscribers, handling cancellations, or responding to failed payments.
What the Subscription Trigger Does
The Subscription trigger adds a contact to a workflow whenever a subscription event occurs that matches your selected filters.
This allows you to automate follow-ups, notifications, internal tasks, and retention actions based on subscription status changes.
Available Subscription Status Filters
You can trigger workflows using one or more of the following subscription statuses:
Active
Cancelled
Expired
Failed
Incomplete
Overdue
Paused
Scheduled
Trial
Unpaid
Each filter determines when the workflow should start.
How to Set Up the Subscription Trigger
Step 1: Open the Workflow Builder
Step 2: Add the Subscription Trigger
Click Add New Trigger.
Select Subscription from the trigger list.
Optionally rename the trigger for clarity (for example, Subscription Cancelled – No Product).
Step 3: Configure Subscription Filters
Under Filters, select the Status condition.
Choose one or more subscription statuses (for example, Cancelled).
Optionally add additional filters such as Global Products to narrow which subscriptions qualify.
Each filter further restricts when the workflow will run.
Step 4: Save the Trigger
Click Save Trigger to confirm your filter setup.
Add Workflow Actions
After the trigger is saved, add one or more actions such as:
Send an email or SMS
Notify a team member
Create or update records
Start a retention or onboarding sequence
Actions run only when the subscription event matches your trigger filters.
Save, Publish, and Test
Click Save in the top-right corner.
Toggle the workflow from Draft to Publish when ready.
Use Test Workflow to confirm the trigger fires correctly before going live.
You can also publish a workflow without actions if you only want to log or track subscription events.
