Who This Is For / When to Use
This setup is required for Kyrios users who send emails through Mailgun and are not receiving replies in their Conversations inbox, especially when replies are bouncing or never arriving.
This applies only to paid Mailgun plans (Foundation or higher), as reply routing is not supported on free plans.
How Mailgun Reply Routing Works with Kyrios
Mailgun uses Receiving Routes to forward inbound emails to Kyrios via a webhook.
When configured correctly, any reply sent to your Mailgun-connected domain is forwarded to Kyrios and logged in the Unified Inbox and contact record.
If the route is missing, misconfigured, or overridden by another route, replies will bounce or disappear.
Step 1: Check Existing Receiving Routes in Mailgun
Log in to your Mailgun account and navigate to Receiving.
A correct configuration includes one Catch-All route that forwards messages to Kyrios.
If multiple routes exist or the webhook URL does not match exactly, replies may fail.
Action:
Delete any receiving routes that do not match the Kyrios webhook configuration.
Ensure only one catch-all route is active unless you have an advanced Mailgun routing setup.
Step 2: Create the Kyrios Receiving Route in Mailgun
Navigate to Receiving → Create Route in Mailgun.
Configure the route exactly as follows:
Route Settings
Expression Type: Catch All
Forward: Enabled
Forwarding URL:
https://msgsndr.com/mailgun/inbound_webhook
Priority: 99
Description: Any label (recommended:
Kyrios Receiving Route)
Click Create Route to save.
What a Correct Mailgun Route Looks Like
Once saved, the route should display:
catch_all() Priority: 99 forward("https://msgsndr.com/mailgun/inbound_webhook")This configuration ensures all inbound replies are forwarded to Kyrios without filtering conflicts.
Common Issues and Fixes

Fix:
Transfer the domain to Cloudflare.
Add all Mailgun DNS records, including MX records.
Reconnect the domain to Mailgun.
Route Exists but Replies Still Bounce
Cause: Mailgun plan does not support reply routing.
Fix: Upgrade to at least the Foundation plan.
Frequently Asked Questions
What priority should the Mailgun route use?
Use Priority 99. This ensures the Kyrios route processes inbound messages before lower-priority routes.
Does this affect outbound email delivery?
No. Receiving routes only impact inbound replies. Outbound delivery depends on your sending domain and authentication.
Can I use multiple receiving routes?
Only if you fully understand Mailgun routing order. Kyrios recommends a single catch-all route for reliability.
What does “Catch All” mean?
It means every email sent to your Mailgun domain, regardless of prefix, is forwarded to Kyrios.
