How to Pause Workflows in Kyrios

Pausing workflows in Kyrios allows administrators to temporarily stop published automations during specific date ranges, such as holidays or scheduled downtime, without permanently disabling or editing the workflow logic.

Who This Is For / When to Use

This article is for Kyrios users who manage automations and need to prevent emails, SMS, or other workflow actions from running during predefined periods, including holidays, events, or maintenance windows.

What Happens When a Workflow Is Paused

When a workflow is paused using Global Workflow Settings, the selected published workflows are temporarily placed into a paused (draft) state for the defined date range and automatically resume once the pause period ends.

Where to Manage Workflow Pauses

Workflow pauses are configured from Global Workflow Settings and apply account-wide to selected published workflows.

How to Pause Workflows

Step 1: Open Global Workflow Settings

Global Workflow Settings centralize pause rules for workflows and are accessed from the Workflow List page.

  1. Navigate to Workflows.

  2. Click Global Workflow Settings in the top-right corner.

Step 2: Add a Pause Date Range

Each pause rule consists of a start date, end date, and selected workflows.

  1. Click Add Date.

  2. Select a Start Date and Time.

  3. Select an End Date and Time.

Important rules:

  • The maximum allowed pause duration is 15 days.

  • Date ranges cannot overlap for the same workflow.

Step 3: Select Which Workflows to Pause

Each pause row allows granular workflow selection.

  1. Open the Select Workflows dropdown.

  2. Choose one of the following:

    • All Published Workflows

    • One or more specific published workflows

Only published workflows appear in the selector and can be paused.

Step 4: (Optional) Add Multiple Pause Periods

Kyrios supports multiple independent pause ranges.

  • Click Add Date to create another pause row.

  • You can configure up to 15 pause date ranges.

Step 5: (Optional) Enable Annual Pauses

Annual pauses automatically repeat every year on the same dates.

  1. Check the Annually checkbox for a pause row.

  2. The workflow will pause on those dates every year without reconfiguration.

Step 6: Clone or Delete Pause Rows

Pause configurations can be reused or removed.

  • Click the Clone icon to duplicate a pause row.

  • Click the Delete icon to remove a pause row.

Step 7: Save Your Changes

Saving applies all pause rules immediately.

  1. Review all pause rows.

  2. Click Save.

The selected workflows will automatically pause and resume based on the configured dates.

How Paused Workflows Appear in the System

Paused workflows are clearly identified across Kyrios.

  • The Workflow List shows workflows marked as Paused.

  • Individual workflow Settings include a Pause Workflow section showing active pause dates.

Common Issues and Fixes

Pause Will Not Save

The pause configuration will not save if the date range exceeds 15 days or overlaps with another pause for the same workflow.

Fix: Adjust the date range so it is 15 days or less and does not overlap with existing pauses.

Workflow Does Not Appear in the Selector

Only published workflows can be paused.

Fix: Publish the workflow before attempting to add it to a pause rule.

Workflow Is Still Running During Pause Dates

A workflow will continue running if it was not included in the pause selection.

Fix: Verify the correct workflow is selected in the pause row and that the current date falls within the pause window.
