How to Configure and Manage Blog Comments

Enable the Comments element on your blog post page to allow reader discussions and manage moderation and notifications from the Comments tab.

Who This Is For / When to Use

This guide is for blog administrators and content teams operating within the Lead & Follow-Up System who want to host discussions directly on their blog articles. Use this workflow when you want readers to ask questions, react, and reply to posts on a blog site. Do not use this feature if you require comments to sync directly into the Conversations tab or auto-create CRM Contacts, as blog comments operate independently of contact records.

Before You Start

Review these operational constraints before configuring comments:

  • Blog comments are enabled at the blog site level. Adding or removing the element applies site-wide across all posts on that specific blog site.

  • Commenters must log in to submit a comment, reply, like, or dislike. Unauthenticated visitors can view published comments.

  • Readers can attach a maximum of one image per comment.

  • Comment submissions do not create records in Contacts or conversations in the Conversations tab.

How to Add the Comments Element to a Blog Site

The Comments element must be embedded into the blog post template within the site builder to display discussion threads below your articles.

  1. Go to Sites and select Blogs.

  2. Open your target blog site.

  3. Open the blog post page template in the builder.

  4. Drag and drop the Comments element onto the page canvas.

  5. Style the element using the builder design controls to match your site layout.

  6. Click Save and select Publish.

How Readers Authenticate and Post Comments

Readers interact directly on the live blog post using passwordless authentication.

  1. The reader navigates to the comment section at the bottom of the blog post and clicks Login to comment.

  2. Returning readers enter their email address and submit the one-time verification code.

  3. New readers enter their details to register an account in the active modal window without navigating away from the article.

  4. Once authenticated, the reader types their message into the text field.

  5. Optional: The reader clicks the image icon to upload one image attachment or selects the emoji picker to insert emojis.

  6. The reader clicks Publish to submit the comment.

How to Configure Blog Comment Moderation and Notification Settings

You can manage comment approval requirements, automated email alerts, and site-level inheritance from the blog settings panel.

  1. In Blogs, open your blog site and navigate to the Comments tab.

  2. Open the Comment settings window.

  3. Toggle Require approval to the enabled state if new comments must be manually approved before appearing publicly.

  4. Toggle Email notifications to the enabled state to receive alerts when new comments are submitted.

  5. Select an alert interval from the Frequency dropdown: choose immediate alerts or Daily digest.

  6. In the Send notifications to field, select the user emails that should receive comment notification alerts.

  7. Optional: Check the box for Apply to all blog sites to apply these moderation rules across the entire account. Notification recipient lists remain configured per individual site.

  8. Click Save changes.

How to Review and Moderate Comments

The Comments dashboard provides metrics, search filters, and moderation controls across all posts on the blog site.

  1. Navigate to Sites > Blogs and open your blog site.

  2. Select the Comments tab.

  3. Review the overview metric cards: Total blog comments, Monthly comments, and Pending comments.

  4. Filter comments by status using the Status dropdown (such as Pending or Published) or select specific posts using the Posts dropdown.

  5. Moderate comments directly in the table using the inline action buttons:

    • Click the checkmark icon to approve a pending comment.

    • Click the trash icon to delete a comment.

    • Click the reply icon to submit an answer.

How to Review Pending Comments One by One

The single-comment review modal allows moderators to evaluate full discussion threads, view live context, and reply as specific blog authors.

  1. In the Comments tab, click on an individual comment with a Pending status badge to launch the review modal.

  2. Click View live to inspect the live post layout in a new browser tab.

  3. Review the chronological comment thread displayed in the central panel.

  4. Type an official reply into the Write a reply... composer.

  5. Click the author dropdown in the lower-right corner of the composer to select which author name appears on the published reply. All team replies display a verified Moderator badge automatically.

  6. Click Reply to submit the response, or navigate to other pending items using the directional arrow buttons.

Common Issues and Fixes

Comments are not appearing below blog posts

  • Cause: The Comments element has not been inserted into the active blog post template in the builder, or the template was not republished.

  • Fix: Open Sites > Blogs, enter the blog post builder, drag the Comments element into the layout, and click Save followed by Publish.

New reader comments are missing from the live website

  • Cause: The blog site has Require approval enabled in settings, holding new comments in an unapproved state.

  • Fix: Navigate to the Comments tab, filter by status Pending, and click the checkmark icon or open the review window to approve each submission.

Readers cannot submit comments or reactions

  • Cause: The reader has not completed the passwordless email verification flow.

  • Fix: Instruct the user to click Login to comment, submit their email address, and enter the one-time code sent to their inbox before submitting their message
