What Rich Text Adds
Rich Text adds lightweight formatting to notes and task descriptions.
Supported formatting includes:
Bold
Italics
Underline
Strikethrough
Bulleted lists
Numbered lists
Hyperlinks
Undo
Redo
Basic paste formatting preservation
Where to Find Rich Text in Contacts
Rich Text is available when adding or editing a note or task description from a contact record. To access it from Contacts:
Open Contacts.
Open a contact record.
Select the Notes or Tasks area.
Open an existing note or task, or create a new one.
Use the formatting toolbar in the description field.
How to Use Rich Text
Click inside the note or task description field.
Type or paste your content.
Use the toolbar to format important details.
Add bullets or numbered steps when the note includes multiple items.
Add hyperlinks when teammates need quick access to supporting resources.
Click Save.
Formatting Toolbar
The toolbar provides quick access to common formatting options. Use the toolbar to apply:
Bold, italic, underline, or strikethrough text
Bulleted or numbered lists
Clickable hyperlinks
Undo or redo actions
Lists and Structure
Use bulleted lists for ideas, discussion points, meeting notes, or general updates. Use numbered lists for ordered steps, follow-up actions, task instructions, or processes that must happen in sequence.
Hyperlinks
Hyperlinks let users connect notes or tasks to supporting resources. Use hyperlinks for documents, folders, tickets, project references, or external assets. To add a hyperlink:
Select the text you want to link.
Click the link icon in the toolbar.
Paste the URL.
Confirm the link.
Save the note or task.
Where Formatting Appears
Rich Text formatting is designed to remain readable wherever supported notes and tasks appear. Supported areas include:
Contacts
Opportunities
Companies
Conversations
Calendars
Limitations
Rich Text supports lightweight formatting only. The following are not supported:
Images
Tables
Headings
Text colors
Text alignment
Code blocks
Checkbox-style task lists
Pasting preserves basic formatting only, such as emphasis, lists, and links. Complex layouts and media may be removed.
Common Issues and Fixes
The formatting toolbar is not visible
Use the desktop or web app to edit Rich Text formatting. Some mobile views may show formatted content without showing the full editing toolbar.
Pasted content looks different
Only basic formatting is preserved when pasting. Complex layouts, tables, media, and advanced styling may be removed.
A hyperlink is not clickable
Edit the note or task, select the linked text, and confirm that a valid URL was added through the link option.
FAQ
Does Rich Text change how notes or tasks are stored or exported?
Rich Text improves on-screen readability. Exported or printed content may appear simplified, so review exports when formatting is important.
Can I add images, tables, or headings to notes or task descriptions?
No. Notes and task descriptions support lightweight formatting only.
Are hyperlink clicks tracked?
No. Hyperlinks are provided for quick navigation. This feature does not add link tracking.
Will formatting appear on mobile?
Formatted content is designed to remain readable. Use the desktop or web app if the mobile app does not show the full editing toolbar.
Is there an API change?
No. This feature does not add or modify public API endpoints.
Do internal comments in Conversations use the same editor as Notes?
No. Internal comments are separate from Notes. Rich Text applies to notes and task descriptions.
Are text colors or alignment available?
No. Rich Text focuses on essential formatting for clarity and consistency.
