Who This Is For / When to Use

Use this guide if you want to:

  • Sell access to a membership or course

  • Automatically grant access after purchase or form submission

  • Send login credentials or magic links

  • Control access using workflows instead of manual assignment

Part 1: Granting Access Using a Funnel (Recommended)

Step 1: Create and Publish a Membership Offer

A membership offer defines what content the customer receives.

  1. Navigate to Memberships in the left menu.

  2. Select Courses.

  3. From the dropdown, select Offers.

  4. Click Add Offer and complete the required fields:

    • Title

    • Products

    • Pricing

  5. Save the offer.

Important

  • The offer remains in Draft until published.

  • Draft offers cannot be selected in products or workflows.

Step 2: Create or Update a Payment Product

A payment product connects checkout to the membership offer.

  1. Go to Payments > Products.

  2. Click Create Product.

  3. Complete the product details.

  4. In the Pricing section, expand Additional options.

  5. Toggle Membership Offer ON.

  6. Select the published membership offer.

  7. Click Create to save.

Notes

  • The offer must be published to appear in the dropdown.

  • Currency is determined by the account’s location.

  • Existing products can be edited to add a membership offer.

Step 3: Add the Product to a Funnel Checkout Step

  1. Open your funnel.

  2. Select the step that contains the Order Form.

  3. Open the Products tab.

  4. Click Add Product and select your membership product.

  5. Save the step.

Result

  • When payment is completed, the contact is automatically added to the membership.

  • No workflow is required for access when using this method.

Step 4: Redirect the Customer to the Membership After Purchase (Optional)

  1. Add or open a step after the checkout.

  2. Edit the page.

  3. Add a Button element.

  4. In Button Actions, set Link to = Membership.

Use Case

  • Immediate access after purchase.

  • Login details are still sent separately by email unless using a magic link.

Part 2: Granting Access Using Workflows

Use workflows if you want conditional access, automation, or non-purchase triggers.

Step 1: Create a Workflow Trigger

  1. Go to Automations > Workflows.

  2. Create a new workflow.

  3. Click Add New Trigger.

  4. Select Order Form Submission.

  1. (Optional) Add filters:

    • Submission type: Sale, Upsell, Bump, or Opt-in

Step 2: Grant the Membership Offer

  1. Click Add Action.

  2. Select Course Grant Offer.

  3. Choose the membership offer.

  4. Save the action.

Step 3: Publish the Workflow

  1. Click Save.

  2. Toggle the workflow from Draft to Publish.

Important

  • Workflows do not run while in Draft mode.

Part 3: Sending Login Credentials

Membership access and login emails are controlled separately.

Option 1: System-Generated Welcome Email (Recommended for Simplicity)

Step 1: Enable Membership Emails

  1. Go to Settings.

  2. Open Email Settings.

  3. Select the Courses tab.

  4. Enable Send Welcome Email.

Step 2: Select or Customize the Template

  • Choose a template from the dropdown.

  • The default template cannot be edited directly.

  • Custom templates are created in the Email Builder.

Result

  • Login credentials are automatically sent after checkout.

Option 2: Sending Credentials Using Workflows (Advanced)

Step 1: Create a New Signup Trigger

  1. Add a trigger to a workflow.

  2. Select New Signup.

  3. (Optional) Filter by a specific offer.

Step 2: Add a Send Email Action

  1. Add an action.

  2. Select Send Email.

Step 3: Insert Course Custom Values

  1. In the email editor, click Custom Values.

  2. Select Course.

  3. Insert:

    • Email

    • Login URL (Magic Link)

Custom Value Behavior

  • Email: populates the contact’s login email.

  • Login URL: sends a one-click magic link to set a password.

Step 4: Save and Publish

  1. Save the email action.

  2. Save the workflow.

  3. Publish the workflow.

Important Behavior Notes

  • Course Grant Offer triggers the default welcome email only on first access.

  • New Signup triggers credentials.

  • Offer Access Granted does not send credentials.

  • Manual access grants do not trigger workflow-based emails.

Common Issues and Fixes

Credentials Not Sending

  • Ensure Send Welcome Email is enabled.

  • Confirm the workflow uses New Signup, not Offer Access Granted.

  • Send a magic link or password reset from the contact profile.

Offer Not Appearing in Dropdowns

  • Confirm the offer is Published.

  • Draft offers are not selectable.

FAQ

What happens if I don’t publish my membership offer?

If the offer is not published, it stays in Draft and cannot be selected in products, funnels, or workflows.

How is the currency for an offer determined?

The currency is automatically set based on the account’s location.

Do I need to do anything after payment to grant access?

No. When a product is linked to a membership offer, access is granted automatically after payment.

Can I manually grant access to a membership?

Yes, from the contact profile. This is not recommended if you rely on workflows to send login credentials.

Can access be revoked later?

Yes. Access can be removed manually or through workflows using revocation actions.

What is the difference between “New Signup” and “Offer Access Granted”?

  • New Signup: Triggered by a contact action (purchase, form submission). Sends credentials.

  • Offer Access Granted: Triggered by you or a workflow. Does not send credentials.

Can I use order bumps with memberships?

Yes. Order bumps can be used on both funnels and websites and do not affect membership access logic.
