Who This Is For / When to Use

Use conditional logic if you need to:

  • Show or skip questions based on a specific answer.

  • Route respondents to different slides.

  • Disqualify respondents based on eligibility criteria.

Create or Open a Survey

You must be inside the Survey Builder to configure conditional logic.

Steps:

  1. Navigate to Surveys.

  2. Click Add Survey or open an existing survey.

Add Base Survey Fields

Start by adding standard contact fields.

Common fields:

  • First Name

  • Last Name

  • Phone

  • Email

These fields are added from Quick Add.

Create a Custom Field for Logic (Radio Select)

Conditional logic works best with single-choice fields.

Steps:

  1. Open Custom Fields.

  2. Click + Add.

  3. Select Radio Select.

Configure the Custom Field Options

Each option can control survey behavior.

Steps:

  1. Enter a field name.

  2. Choose the Contact object.

  3. Assign the field to a group (example: Additional Info).

  4. Add option names.

  5. Save the field.

Add the Custom Field to the Survey

Once saved, the field becomes available in the builder.

Steps:

  1. Open Custom Fields.

  2. Locate the new field.

  3. Drag it onto the survey slide.

Open Conditional Logic Settings

Logic is configured from the field’s settings panel.

Steps:

  1. Click the custom field in the survey.

  2. Open the Options tab on the right.

  3. Scroll to the Logic section.

Set Logic Rules for Each Option

Each option can trigger a different action.

Available actions:

  • Go to a specific slide

  • Disqualify immediately

  • Disqualify after submit

Example:

  • Option 1 → Go to Slide 1

  • Option 2 → Disqualify immediately

Save and Test the Survey

Always test logic before publishing.

Steps:

  1. Click Save.

  2. Use Preview mode.

  3. Select different options to confirm correct behavior.

Common Issues and Fixes

Logic not triggering

  • Ensure the field is single-choice (Radio Select).

Respondent routed incorrectly

  • Recheck slide numbers assigned in logic rules.

Disqualification not working

  • Confirm whether the action is set to immediate or after submit.

FAQ

Can I apply multiple logic rules to one question?

Yes. Each option within the same field can have its own logic action.

What field types support conditional logic?

Single-choice fields such as Radio Select and single-select dropdowns work best.

What is the difference between disqualify immediately and after submit?

Disqualify immediately stops the survey as soon as the option is selected. Disqualify after submit allows completion before disqualification.

Can I use conditional logic across multiple slides?

Yes. You can route respondents to any slide in the survey.
