What a Custom Product Details Page Is
A Custom Product Details Page is a standalone page that displays product data but uses a fully customizable layout built with the Page Builder.
Key characteristics:
Acts as the product’s primary PDP
Supports all standard product functionality (price, variants, cart actions)
Overrides the default product detail page for assigned products
How to Create a Custom Product Details Page
Follow these steps to create and activate a custom PDP:
Open the Site / Store Builder
Click Add New Page
Enable the Custom Product Detail Page toggle
Confirm to create the page
Design the page using the Page Builder
Save and publish the page
Once published, the page is ready for product assignment.
How to Assign Products to a Custom PDP
Products are assigned directly from the Product Detail element settings.
Steps:
Select the Product Detail element on the custom PDP
Open the Right Sidebar
Use Assign products to this template
Search and select the products you want to link
Save the page
Editing or Reassigning Products
You can change product assignments at any time.
Important behavior:
A product can only be assigned to one custom PDP
Assigning a product to a new custom PDP automatically removes it from the previous one
Changes take effect immediately after publishing
Navigation and Customer Experience
Custom PDPs automatically integrate with store navigation.
Behavior details:
Clicking a product from a product list or featured section routes to the correct PDP
Direct product links always resolve to the custom PDP if one exists
No manual linking is required
Fallback to the Default Product Page
If a Custom Product Details Page is deleted:
All assigned products automatically revert to the default PDP
No product data is lost
Store navigation continues to work normally
This ensures a safe fallback with no broken links.
Using Multiple Custom PDPs in One Store
You can create multiple custom PDPs within the same store.
Common use cases:
Different layouts for different product categories
Dedicated designs for digital vs physical products
Premium product storytelling pages
Each product can only belong to one custom PDP at a time.
Common Issues and Fixes
Product is not showing the custom layout
Confirm the product is assigned to the correct custom PDP
Ensure the page is published
Product opens the default PDP instead
Check if the custom PDP was deleted
Verify the product is not assigned to another custom PDP
Product was removed from another page unexpectedly
