WordPress Infrastructure Migration

Kyrios is upgrading WordPress sites to a new infrastructure to improve speed, reliability, and performance, requiring a one-time confirmation migration per site.

Updated over 2 months ago

Who This Is For / When to Use

This article is for Kyrios users who:

  • Have an existing WordPress site hosted in Kyrios

  • See a WordPress Infrastructure Migration prompt

  • Need to confirm migration to the new WordPress infrastructure

  • Want to understand downtime, access limits, and post-migration steps

What Is Changing

Kyrios has upgraded its WordPress infrastructure to:

  • Improve site performance and load speed

  • Increase reliability and stability

  • Support future WordPress features

All new WordPress sites are created on the new infrastructure by default.
Existing sites must be migrated once via a confirmation flow.

Important Things to Know Before Migrating

Zero Downtime

Your website remains live and accessible throughout the migration.

Temporary Dashboard Restrictions

During migration:

  • Editing access is temporarily disabled

  • No changes can be made to the site

  • Access is restored immediately after completion

Migration Time

  • Typical completion time: ~10 minutes per site

  • Migration runs automatically in the background

Step 1: Confirm Migration

  1. Open your WordPress Dashboard.

  2. A Critical Infra Update modal appears.

  3. Click Confirm Migration to proceed.

Step 2: Migration in Progress

After confirmation:

  • A new WordPress instance is created

  • Your site continues to function normally

  • No action is required during this step

You will see a New Instance in Progress message.

Step 3: Migration Completed

Once migration finishes:

  • You are automatically redirected to the dashboard

  • All domains and subdomains remain connected

  • Site content, themes, plugins, and settings are preserved

Post-Migration Checks

After migration, review your domains:

  • If a domain shows Verified, no action is required

  • If a domain shows Not Verified, DNS updates are required

Fixing a “Not Verified” Domain

  1. Open DNS Settings for the domain.

  2. Copy the DNS records provided.

  3. Add them to your DNS provider.

  4. Wait for propagation and re-verify.

What Is Not Affected

The migration does not change:

  • WordPress themes

  • Plugins and custom code

  • Database content

  • Site URLs

  • SEO structure

  • Email hosting or MX records

Migrating Multiple WordPress Sites

If you have multiple WordPress sites:

  • Each site must be migrated individually

  • Migration prompts appear per site

  • Sites can be migrated at different times

Common Issues and Fixes

Site Shows “Not Verified” After Migration

Cause: DNS records still pointing to the old infrastructure
Fix: Update DNS records provided in the dashboard

Cannot Edit Site During Migration

Cause: Temporary access restriction
Fix: Wait for migration to complete (usually ~10 minutes)

Migration Prompt Still Visible

Cause: Migration not yet confirmed for that site
Fix: Click Confirm Migration to proceed
