Create and Configure a Branded Membership PWA

Use this guide if you want to offer members an app-like experience for your courses and communities using Kyrios, without publishing to the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

What Is a Branded Membership PWA

A Branded Membership Progressive Web App (PWA) is a web-based app that users can install directly from their browser. It provides an app-like experience (icon, splash screen, offline support) while allowing full control over branding, colors, icons, and

domain.

PWAs update automatically, work across devices, and eliminate the cost and delays of native app development.

Enable and Configure the Membership PWA

Step 1: Open App Settings

  1. In your Kyrios dashboard, go to Settings.

  2. Select App Settings.

Step 2: Enable PWA

  1. In App Settings, toggle Enable PWA.

  2. Click Save.

Step 3: Configure App Details

Enter the following fields:

  • Name – Full app name shown during installation

  • Short Name – Displayed under the app icon

  • Description – Brief description shown in install prompts

Step 4: Upload App Icons

Upload both required icons:

  • 512 × 512 (used for splash screens and installs)

  • 192 × 192 (used for home screen icons)

Accepted formats: .png, .jpg

Step 5: Choose App Colors

  1. Select a predefined color palette.

  2. Colors apply to buttons, headers, and navigation inside the app.

Step 6: Save Settings

Click Save to apply all branding and PWA settings.

How Members Install the PWA

Windows (Chrome)

  1. Member logs in using Chrome.

  2. Click the Install icon in the browser address bar.

  3. Confirm installation.

macOS (Chrome)

  1. Member logs in using Chrome.

  2. Click the Install icon in the address bar.

  3. Select Install.

Android (Chrome)

  1. Open the membership site in Chrome.

  2. Tap Add to Home Screen.

  3. Confirm installation.

iOS (Safari 11.3+)

  1. Open the membership site in Safari.

  2. Tap Share.

  3. Select Add to Home Screen.

  4. Tap Add.

Common Issues and Fixes

Install Option Not Showing

  • Ensure Enable PWA is turned on and saved.

  • Confirm the site is accessed via HTTPS.

  • Use supported browsers (Chrome, Safari).

App Icon or Name Did Not Update

  • Clear browser cache.

  • Reinstall the PWA.

  • Confirm both icon sizes are uploaded.

Offline Content Not Available

  • Only previously loaded pages are available offline.

  • New content requires an active internet connection.
