Why Does My Facebook Ad Have No Data or Metrics?

This article explains why Facebook ads may show no data or metrics and how to identify whether the issue is caused by reporting delays, date range settings, approval status, or recent changes.

Who This Is For / When to Use

This guide is for advertisers who see zero data, missing metrics, or blank performance columns in Facebook Ads Manager.

Use this article when:

  • Ads are active but show no impressions or results

  • Metrics appear as “—” or 0

  • Performance data suddenly disappears

  • You recently edited an ad or campaign

How Facebook Ad Reporting Works

Facebook ad metrics are not always real-time. Data is processed, validated, and then displayed in Ads Manager.

Short delays are normal and do not always indicate a problem with the ad itself.

Common Reasons Facebook Ads Show No Data

The Ad Just Went Live

New ads do not show metrics immediately.

What to know:

  • Reporting delays of up to several hours are normal

  • Impressions and clicks may take time to appear

  • Conversion data often lags further behind

What to do:
Wait at least 2–4 hours before troubleshooting further.

The Selected Date Range Has No Activity

Metrics only appear for the date range you are viewing.

This happens when:

  • The ad was launched outside the selected dates

  • The campaign was paused during that period

What to do:

  • Update the date range in Ads Manager

  • Select Lifetime or Last 7 Days

  • Confirm the ad was active during that timeframe

The Ad Was Not Approved

Ads that are rejected or still under review do not generate data.

What to do:

  • Check the Ad Status column

  • Open the ad to review rejection or review reasons

  • Edit and resubmit if rejected

  • Wait for approval if under review

No metrics are recorded until the ad is approved and delivering.

Recent Changes Were Made to the Ad

Edits can temporarily reset reporting.

This includes:

  • Creative changes

  • Budget or bid adjustments

  • Targeting updates

  • Optimization goal changes

What to do:

  • Wait for Facebook to reprocess the ad

  • Refresh Ads Manager after some time

  • Avoid making repeated changes in a short period

Metrics usually reappear once delivery stabilizes.

How to Quickly Diagnose the Issue

Quick Checklist

Check the following in order:

  • Ad status is Active and Approved

  • Date range includes active delivery days

  • Ad has had time to deliver

  • No recent major edits were made

  • Ads Manager is refreshed

If all checks pass, the issue is almost always a reporting delay.

Common Questions

How long can Facebook reporting be delayed?

Most metrics appear within a few hours, but conversion data can take up to 24 hours in some cases.

Can an ad be active but show no data?

Yes. An ad can be active but not yet delivering or still syncing reporting data.

Does editing an ad remove previous data?

No. Editing does not delete historical data, but it may delay new metric updates.
