What Notification Sound Does

Notification Sound is a Chat Widget setting that controls how visitors are alerted when new widget messages appear. When Notification Sound is ON, the widget can:

  • Play a sound when a supported message appears.

  • Show visual cues such as popups, notification badges, or browser tab title updates.

  • Help visitors notice chat updates more quickly.

When Notification Sound is OFF, the widget continues receiving messages silently without sound or visual interruptions. Notification Sound is ON by default for supported widgets. Kyrios Chat Widgets support live chat, SMS, email chat, voice chat, and AI chatbot interactions through embedded website widgets.


Supported Widget Types

Notification Sound is supported for:

  • All-in-One Chat widgets

  • Live Chat widgets

Notification Sound is not available for unsupported chat widget types.


Messages That Can Trigger Notification Sounds

When Notification Sound is ON, sounds may play for supported visitor-facing messages, including:

  • Live chat intro messages

  • Chat acknowledgement messages

  • Chat ended messages

  • Outside office hours, welcome messages

  • Initial greeting or subheading messages

  • Contact details requested messages

  • Redirect messages after form submission


How to Find the Notification Sound Setting

  1. Go to Sites.

  2. Select Chat Widget from the top navigation.

  3. Open the chat widget you want to edit.


How to Turn Notification Sound ON or OFF

  1. In the Chat Widget builder, select the Chat Window tab.

  2. Open Additional Options.

  1. Use the Notification Sound toggle.

  2. Turn the toggle ON to play visitor-facing sound and visual alerts.

  3. Turn the toggle OFF for silent mode.


How to Save the Notification Sound Setting

After changing the Notification Sound toggle, click Save in the top-right corner. If the widget is already embedded on your site, refresh the website page to confirm the change.


Common Issues and Fixes

Visitors do not hear notification sounds

Confirm that Notification Sound is ON for the specific widget being used. Also confirm the widget type is All-in-One Chat or Live Chat.

The widget still receives messages when the sound is OFF

This is expected. Turning Notification Sound OFF does not disable the chat widget. It only disables visitor-facing sound and visual interruptions.

Changes are not showing on the website

Click Save after changing the setting. Then refresh the website page where the chat widget is installed.

No. Notification Sound only controls visitor-facing alerts in the website chat widget. Team notifications are managed separately.

Can I upload a custom notification sound?
