Alt text is created using existing metadata, including:

If metadata is unavailable, supported fallback translations are used where applicable.
Automatic Alt Text for Product Images
Alt text is now generated automatically for Ecommerce product images.
Product Main Images
Product main images use the product name as the alt text.
