Overview
The Edit Conversation action allows you to manage conversation status automatically inside workflows. This helps keep your inbox organized by updating conversations based on contact activity without requiring manual review.
With this action, you can:
Mark conversations as Read or Unread
Archive conversations or Unarchive them back to the Recent tab
Maintain a clean, actionable conversations inbox for your team
How to Use the Edit Conversation Action
Step 1: Create or Open a Workflow
Navigate to Automation > Workflows
Open an existing workflow, or click Create Workflow to start a new one
Step 2: Add the Edit Conversation Action
Click the + icon to add an action
Select Edit Conversation
(Optional) Rename the action for internal reference
Step 3: Configure the Action
Mark as Read or Unread
Choose how the conversation should be handled:
None – No change
Mark as Read
Mark as Unread
Archive or Unarchive
Choose how the conversation should be stored:
None – Leave the conversation unchanged
Archive
Unarchive → Move to Recents tab
ℹ️ If both fields are set to None, the action will be skipped.
Step 4: Save and Publish
Click Save Action
Save the workflow
Toggle the workflow from Draft → Publish
Once published, the workflow will automatically update conversations based on your trigger.

What does the Edit Conversation action do?
It updates a conversation’s status by marking it as read or unread and archiving or unarchiving it within a workflow.
What happens if I select “None” for all options?
The action will be skipped, and the conversation will remain unchanged.
Will this notify users when a conversation is updated?
No. This action only changes conversation status. To notify users, add a separate notification action.
What if the workflow runs when there is no active conversation?
If no conversation exists at the time the action runs, the step will be skipped automatically.
