What the File Type Filter Does
The File Type Filter is a dropdown in the Media Storage toolbar. It hides files that do not match the selected file type and shows only the category you choose. Available filter options include:

Photos
Videos
Audio
Docs
PDFs
Other
File Type Categories
The File Type Filter groups files into simple categories.
Photos include image files such as JPG, PNG, SVG, and GIF.
Videos include video files such as MP4, MOV, WEBM, and AVI.
Audio includes audio files such as MP3, WAV, and OGG.
Docs include document files such as DOCX, TXT, CSV, XLSX, and PPTX.
PDFs include Portable Document Format files.
Other includes ZIP, RAW, linked Google Docs, and miscellaneous file formats.
How to Use the File Type Filter
Open Media Storage.
Find the File Type dropdown in the top toolbar.
Click the dropdown.
Select a file type, such as Photos, Videos, Audio, Docs, PDFs, or Other.
Media Storage shows only files that match the selected type.
Select All to show every file again.
How Search Works with the File Type Filter
Search and File Type Filter can be used together. When a search term is active, the selected file type narrows the search results further. For example, searching for a brand name while selecting Photos shows only photo files that match the search term.
Smart Context Awareness
The File Type Filter may be disabled when filtering is not useful. For example, image-only libraries may already contain only photos. In that case, the dropdown may be unavailable to prevent empty or confusing results.
Important Notes
The File Type Filter does not change storage usage. The File Type Filter does not delete, move, upload, or convert files. The filter only changes which files are visible in the current view.
Common Issues and Fixes
The dropdown is greyed out
The current source may not support file-type filtering, or the source may already contain only one file type.
I cannot see a file I uploaded
Set the File Type Filter back to All. Also check the current folder, search term, and selected media source.
My search results look incomplete
Clear the search field or switch the File Type Filter back to All.
FAQ
Does the filter affect upload limits or storage usage?
No. The filter only changes what is visible in Media Storage. It does not affect storage limits, upload limits, or billing.
Can I select files across different types after filtering?
Yes. Switch the File Type Filter back to All, then select the files you need from the current view.
Why is the dropdown greyed out in an image-only library?
The dropdown may be disabled when the source already contains only one file type. This prevents unnecessary filtering.
Will my filter choice sync to other team members?
No. The File Type Filter is a user-level view setting.
Is the filter available in the Mobile App?
Not yet. File Type filtering is intended for the desktop and web Media Storage experience.
Do Docs include Google Docs links?
No. Docs refers to uploaded document files such as DOCX or TXT. Linked Google Docs appear under Other.
