Tags and categories in Social Planner help you organize posts, filter the social calendar, and analyze content performance more efficiently.

Use tags and categories if you:

  • Manage a high volume of scheduled social posts.

  • Want consistent content organization.

  • Need to filter posts in the social calendar.

  • Track performance by content type or theme.

Understanding Tags vs Categories

Tags

  • Tags are custom labels applied to individual posts.

  • Used for granular organization (topics, campaigns, formats).

  • A post can have multiple tags.

Examples:

  • promotion

  • weekly-tips

  • video-content

Categories

  • Categories are broader groupings for posts.

  • Used for high-level organization.

  • A post can belong to one category.

Examples:

  • Marketing

  • Announcements

  • Promotions

Creating a Post with Tags and Categories

  1. Go to Marketing from the left sidebar.

  2. Select Social Planner.

  3. Click + New Post.

  4. Choose the social profile(s) under Post to.

Accessing Advanced Options

  1. Scroll below the post editor.

  2. Click Advanced options.

  3. The Choose Category and Tags fields appear.

Adding or Selecting a Category

  1. Click Select a category.

  2. Choose an existing category or click + to create a new one.

  3. The category is applied to the post.

Adding Tags to a Post

  1. Click the Tags field.

  2. Search for an existing tag or type a new tag name.

  3. Select the tag to apply it to the post.

Multiple tags can be added to the same post.

Filtering Posts by Tags and Categories

You can filter posts in the Social Planner calendar by:

  • Post type (Post, Reel, Story)

  • Content type

  • Status (Scheduled, Published, Draft)

  • Category

  • Tags

This helps you quickly locate and manage specific posts.

Managing Categories

  • Categories can be managed from Social Planner settings.

  • Changes affect future and existing posts using that category.

Common Issues and Fixes

Cannot Find a Tag

  • Ensure the tag was created previously.

  • Create a new tag if none exist.

Category Not Appearing

  • Refresh the category list.

  • Confirm you have permission to create categories.

Filters Not Showing Expected Posts

  • Clear existing filters and reapply.

  • Confirm posts were saved with the correct tags or category.
